iPad (again), G5 and iRevolutionary

Seems Macbidouille.com (aka hardmac.com) is becoming the new rumor mill to read:

1) le produit ipad existerait

2) Le G5 serait Disponible en Janvier.

3) D'autre produits "revolutionnaire seraient a l'etude"

4) Paris sera la ville du premier magasin Apple d'Europe. Steve y tiendrait car il aimerait beaucoup notre capitale.

For the French-haters (quite many stateside...) and other non-French speaking people:

1) The iPad product would exist

2) G5 would be available in January

3) Othe "revolutionary" products would be prepared

4) Paris would be the first European city with an Apple Store. Steve wants it because he loves France's capital

Are they saying this will happen or Steve will be announcing this next week?

You think they would space out their rumors a little more to get more hits

Macbidouille isn't the average rumor site. It's more of a french xlr8yourmac than anything else, hence the name, which basically means tweak your mac.

They almost never post rumors. When they do, they either:

    1) state that it is from a very reliable source, like recently the fact that new powermacs would be coming out on the 13th, and have a pretty good hit rate.

    2) state clearly that the info came their way, they thought they'd share, but it is to be taken with a considerable amount of Salt.

This rumor comes in the second category, from an ex, obviously disgruntled, Apple employee. Take it FWIW.

Yes, and a disgruntled employee will typically say things to hurt his former employer... things like wonderful new products coming "in the near future" so that people will hold off their purchases until the new product arrives. And when it doesn't they'll continue holding off, costing Apple more and more sales. At least that would be the disgruntled's hope.

I'd say its a year before we see the G5, and I'm dubious about the "iPad" concept. Other revolutionary products wouldn't surprise me, and neither would Apple Stores in Europe.

Stores dont open because Steve himself likes the location. They open because the locations are in areas where the Stores can do alot of business and make a good impact on computer users. Steve doesnt simply open a store in France because he likes that country.

    Exactly.

Furthermore, the Macbidouille is known for its satyrical/ironical posts. So don't trust babelfish.

Unless the poster there says he believes this is the truth, do *not* value the posts more that you would a mosr post

I'll believe the "iPad" and G5 exist when I see Steve announce them.

im not trying to be biased, or racist or any of that shite, but whats with this French site lately? First they get these "spy photos", now these rumors. I just dont understand how a French site can get more dirt then one based in the US. Is there some secret Apple R&D house in Europe or something?

    [/off topic]

About Apple stores in Europe, wasnt there already one planned in Amsterdam or something? I swear I saw that floating around AI a couple weeks ago. I think its a great idea. One in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, and one somewere in Spain (I think thats all the major languages in Europe).

I doubt that AppleStores will come to Europe within the next year. Apple has a very different relationship to it's resellers in Europe than it has in the US. IMHO that's a thing Apple still has to learn that the european market is a lot different.

    Semi-OT:

The Switch campaign coms to Europe which all Apple fans here highly anticipate. I hope they do a lot of cinema/TV/print commercials to get the word out to the people.

Apple cannot afford to open company owned stores in Europe. In the U.S. they treat each store as simply a warehouse so that all necessary ordering, inventory and other systems are in place. They own the stores outright. In Europe they do not have the luxury of easy distribution as in the U.S. and the market is still much smaller. They do need to shore up their current distribution in any event.

Apple has offically said they will NOT bringing retail stores to Europe. What they ARE doing, is exporting the "store within a store" concept to European retailers.

And I used to think us Brits where the only ones living on an island.... at least ours is physical rather than a mentally constructed one <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

If I lived in the US I would be questioning the power of the large corporations to gag free speech as Apple has deemed to do recently. Backed up by the deafening silence from the mainstream Mac press. Then you might understand why such information is emerging elsewhere.

Too right, its funny how these new Macs are so close, but there are zero rumors coming out of the US websites ( MOSR just waffle and say nothing that we didn't know 1 month ago either or reveal things about Jaguar that are already on the Apple website).

I guess its easier for Apple to sue in the states (the land of the free ha ha ), however in France Apple may get no play in the courts.

Will the iPad be only for women? If it is successful, will it be followed by the iPon?

(just pointing out that "iPad" might not be the best name to choose )
