Wonder if carnuba wax or polish will fix it? Expect: 1. Unboxing videos to post "iPhone 7 scratch damage videos OMG CLICK HERE!!!" 2. Companies to sell "specially formulated iPhone polish" 3. Class-action lawsuit because Apple didn't tell customers how much they knew about scratchgate 2016.
Shouldnt phone prices in general be going down?
$1000 a bit too much.
Where did you hear it's $1000? It starts at $649 for full retail price. The original iPhone was $649 too. Except this one 200 times faster, waterproof, DSLR capabilities, 12MP camera, cinema-grade display... can we even count the amount of technology in this? The iPhone SE is a great device for $399, much less than any other iPhone before it.
Apple has always kept the price the same but added value, more storage, etc. That's what they do. If you want a cheap piece of crap, pick up an Android. You get what you pay for.
The jet black finish is really nice. My phones always go into Otter Boxes the second they get unboxed, however. If could wear silk pajamas to work I might not need one, but my work environment is harsh. The water and dust resistance will be most welcome.
Does Jonny Ive design anymore, or does he just do voiceovers exclusivly for Apple? My two year old iPhone 6 looks identical to the iPhone 7. I won't be upgrading FYI. Missing critical roadmap upgrades and acting lazy, that's Tim Cook's new Apple. Instead of technological innovation, Cook gives us hours of Super Mario and Pokemon -- and boring, old, Phil Schiller.

troll garbage. what critical features is it lacking? the features they demoed were all great -- if Apple is lazy then this thing won't sell. Cook and Ive and Schiller are big parts of the team that made Apple the titan it is.
oh but you wanted a shell that looked way different. wah.
My iPhone 4 travelled in an iPod sock for a long time. my iPhone 5 had a case then went bare after a while, stood up really well. My iPhone 6 went bare for a long time but I got sick of the camera bump and put it in a clear silicone one. I got a clear silicone one for my SE, but also picked up a couple knock off Apple leather cases (even have the logo on them but cost 5 bucks on ebay.) I really like the feel of the black leather one, and it looks pretty sexy. It's the first case I've been truly happy with.

What kind of person ignores all of these massive improvements and says "oh but it looks similar so its worthless"?

I'm going with a clear appliqué and no case, but nothing on the screen.
Dirt etc, gets between the case and phone scratching it anyway.
Cases are like putting plastic on the furniture. USE the thing.
