why wait you have not see the BS, that will be coming, they make up numbers already even when Apple provided the numbers, this gives them even more room to make up new numbers.

I'm not seeing how that makes any sense.

    And so I'll remain long.
And so I'll stay out of the market.
I've mentioned before I don't invest in anything that doesn't make sense. The stock market is one of those things.
I just checked the math and see I have had a 2,420% increase in my Apple stock at today's price.  I'd say it made sense for me but I take your point.

Just wait for all the doom & gloom articles on September 19. I'm sure we will read things like Apple is afraid to show low sales, iPhone 7 is a bust, no headphone jack backfires for Apple, etc.

There is a reason Apple does what Apple does.  Apple doesn't do anything "randomly".

If Apple is not going to release the opening weekend sales ....  Odds are pretty good that there is a really good reason.  I submit that the sales will be dismal and disappointing.

I am hardly the first one to say that the iPhone 7 wasn't the BIG announcement that everyone was hoping for.  It was a let-down for many, and while I like the longer battery life; for me, losing the headphone jack isn't worth the cost.  When I drive, I use my iPhone for navigation, listen to music, and I also charge my phone.  Currently, I can do all this with ease - Apple took this away.

Why?  "Because the Headphone jack is 100 years old".  Sorry, BS.  Buttons are older than that, surprisingly they didn't take off the buttons.  If they said "We wanted waterproof and dustproofing, and the headphone jack made this nearly impossible - that is a reason.  100 years old is just elitist BS.  Perhaps this "marketing company" didn't look at what people are actually using.  Why do I want to get rid of my car, so I can use a $800 phone?  Do I want to upgrade my car stereo and toss my $5 cable so I can use a $1,200+ car stereo that does EXACTLY the same thing?  This is an expensive step backwards, for negligible improvement.  Bluetooth 4.2 specs just do not provide adequate audiophile quality, unless you are purchasing Bluetooth equipment that meets the 4.2 specs on the transmit and receive side - and on the receive side, we are talking the more expensive articles, not the stuff you are going to find at most stores.

I believe that removing the headphone jack will impact the sales of the new iPhone.  I am giving serious thought into sitting out this upgrade cycle and waiting for the next iPhone before giving up my iPhone 6.

So basically Apple is saying launch weekend orders will be the same or less than last year and that's really not anything worthy of a press release.
Umm...no thats not what Apple is saying.

Of course that's what they're saying. Every year demand outstrips supply, that's nothing new.

It's almost like we can count on you, to deliver the trolls' counter.

Generally speaking, if they can't make enough to satisfy demand for launch weekend, it makes no sense to publish "this is what we sold", as its not indicative of what they could have sold. The results have always been posted as "this is what we sold" and thats how they are taken. When it comes to sales, there is no "but it could have been more". Numbers are the numbers. So if you know the numbers don't represent demand, don't publish them as such.

It is entirely possible that if Apple were able to produce and fulfill 20 million iPhones this launch, they'd have 20 million and sold and reportable. Numbers breaking their own records by almost double. But if they can only fulfill 10 or 12 million, it pushes back the numbers into the next week, but those wouldn't be "sold" launch weekend. Doesn't make sense to shoot themselves in the foot like that.
But that's the case every year. Nothing special about this year. Unless they can report a number a lot bigger than last year (which is probably not likely) what's the point of releasing figures? All it does is create a big fat target they have to exceed every year.

Apple should have stopped doing this years ago. The only reason to do it now is because the number will be what everyone expects or worse.

That wasn't even the only reason. Waterproofing WAS one reason so was advanced audio capabilities and extra features like battery life which you mentioned So you lied to yourself that 100 years old tech was the only reason.

Waiting for the next iPhone? Because it'll have a headphone jack?

say, I'm curious -- now that Apple's doubled the entry-level model to 32gb (and the other tiers as well) at no additional cost, are you still annoyed with them? worried? concerned? or did they do you right?

Haptic, Taptic I guess it's all the same thing. First time I heard the word Taptic in a video describing the Haptic Engine.
Taptic is just Apple's trademark. Note that their haptic motor was designed to simulate the physical feedback when your press or tap the device.

On the 12" new trackpads it's quite amazing that that the trackpad doesn't move but feels like the old one that would depress when force was applied.

I think it's fantastic. I'm curious what all the 16GB is good enough crowd thinks.

Of course being Apple it's only partially fantastic. They doubled the storage but made no changes to free iCloud tier. Still only 5GB.

    This is good news.

I love that they won't report open week iPhone sales.
I love that they won't report Watch units.

Frankly Tim Cook needs to do more of this. The more information you give Wall Street and click whore media the more crap they bring. Remember a few years ago when an analysist predicted 5 million first week end sales? The number came at 10 million. But to save face he said Apple stuffed the channel. Bullshit. No matter what Apple does they will run some bullshit to twist facts.

I hope Cook does this in earnings also. Breaking down iPhone, iPad, Mac sales is too much information. Cook needs to stop. In their financials they should only report 3 numbers:

    1. Hardware sales
    2. Services revenue (including software portion of iPhone/iPad/Mac/Watch revenue)
    3. Other revenue (legal settlements, and other one time crap)

The less information Apple gives the better.

Tim Cook needs to STOP playing the Wall Street game of trying to beat Quarter after Quarter. That's bull. He should focus on LONG TERM growth and brand. Enough with the stupid iPhone units sold, Average selling price, ect bull shit details. Start making the focus LONG TERM such as growing the install base to 1 BILLION users in the next 5 years. Or increasing services revenue to $100 billion in the next 5 years.  Enough with the minor detail crap that WAll Street loves to pick and chew on.
I totally agree with you. Only give SEC the bare minimum requirements. Tim and Luca can always highlight specific numbers when they're worth pointing out. This is what every other company does.

it's more space than my parents need, but since it costs nothing more it's great. it will save me 100 bucks since I'll only get the 128 and not the 256. this pretty much lets the gas out of any conspiracies that Apple is a mustache-twirling greedy villain trying to rake us over the coals at every step. right?

Where do I start with this troll trash.
    1. Odds are good that demand will out strip supply as it always has during opening week. Analysts would then say demand is weak because only X were sold and not say only X were available to be sold.
    2. People say the same thing every year. This year, different complaints.
    3. This "marketing" company saw what people were using and made the iPhone to begin with, genius. I bet you complained about the lack of hardware keyboard on the iPhone.
    4. Who's getting rid of the car? It has Bluetooth. The audio can also go through lightning connection as well.
    5. Hmmm. Are you concentrating on driving or music in your car?
    6. Yup, just like the Lightning connector influenced previous iphone sales, lack of floppy influenced the iMac sales, etc...
    7. Your choice to wait. Technology moves fast. My 6 runs fine so the 7 isn't for me anyway regardless of what it has.
