A stroke of genius here, combine a quadcopter with a router—signal wherever you go.
And power the quadrocopter with laser beams!
I mean, it's only after the fact that these things are a no-brainier!! 'Why didn't I think of that?' immediately comes to mind. And at $499, it's easily the best value QuadCopterRouter around.

Oh, I think I'll pay a lot more for a bastardized Apple product because some rumor sites said months ago that Apple is abandoning a product (that they still happen to sell)!  That seems like a good use of my time and money.

What the fk did they just do to this beauty? Want more range? Add AC repeaters; want more storage? Get external USB hard drives. Don't rape your beautiful Time Capsule this way.

Holy shit, we have 10 TB drives now? That took long enough. If you’re going to do an upgrade, why not offer 10 instead of 5?

Everyone on here need to head on over to apple.com/feedback and give them a piece of your mind about the discontinuation of airport routers. Let them know that they are important to you as a customer and maintaining your business. I don't think any of us want to have to buy that ugly ass helicopter router and have it morph into a spider in the middle of the night and eat our families.

And I like Apple’s UI for managing my network, too. We shouldn’t have to deal with third party crap.

What discontinuation? They still sell them and have never said otherwise. Just rumor sites.

So perhaps we should complain to the rumor sites.  Done.

Man I miss having an all apple solution. It's the only way that has worked reliably and well for many years.

I hope all this is temporary and that they are just waiting for or developing the new standard.

Apple was was once at the forefront of CREATING and participating in the creation of modern standards.

Id really hate to see them dumbed down into a mere CE company, profitable thought it may be.

Youve re got to consider that with such a profitable business like the iOS ecosystem, they can certainly afford to have other healthy businesses or even "hobbies" that compliment an Apple solution to all computing needs.

Not doing monitors and routers is a backwards step.

The most secure, most reliable router I ever had was an apple AirPort Extreme.

it just seems wrong they wouldn't keep that going.

My hope is that Apple is not really getting out of the router/wifi/backup device business but instead focusing on some sort of super home automation controller (HomeKit based) that also incorporates the router and wifi access point functionality. The current Time Capsule backup & recovery function can easily be relegated to a more generic NAS+Cloud approach that is compatible with HomeKit and can be used for additional functions beyond device backup, such as cacheing security camera video and realtime sensor data streams. An Apple produced home automation controller that supports third party Apps that interact using HomeKit protocols with specialized home automation devices would be extremely compelling. Too bad the iHome brand name is already taken.

Apple has sold lots of things until they just didn't one day. The engineer moves are confirmed, and a fact.

What happens now is up to Apple. I'd like to see at least a spiritual successor to the Airport, having had one since about three weeks since the original shipment of the UFO, but who knows.

As far as this particular product goes, I'm chatting with the vendor to get one for testing. We have loads of stuff, including an unmodified Time Capsule of my own, to compare it to.
