Apple has declared that it's Ningbo, China location at Tianyi Square will open on Sept. 16 -- just in time to sell whatever Apple has in store for its fall releases.

The store will be number 41 in China. It will be located in the Tianyi Square retail area location 133, amongst 300 other retail establishments in the area.

Based on pictures from the area, and the sheer size of the location, the new store appears to be geared towards Apple's new retail vision, with a large central gathering space, and conventional retail operations taking place on the periphery of the building.

Apple retail head Angela Ahrendts declared that Apple would have 40 stores in China in by the end of 2016 -- with the goal met in June of that year.

That's a nice looking facade. I assume the black covering is all glass.

I doubt folks who have never been to China can really form an appreciation for just how vast is the country there and how massive are the sheer numbers of people. Ningbo is a moderately sized city there, but it rivals most US cities in size and population.

The last time I was there (years ago) I was amused and surprised to see how popular US pro basketball was. Everyone at the factory I visited wanted to rush home to watch a basketball game. Times have changed!

Interesting that the signage -- "Opening Soon" -- is in English.  I would have expected the local language... unless there's some chicness associated with western businesses?

I like this storefront. It is gorgeously blended into the surrounding imo.

Yes. Same as in Japan. The results are not always pretty, nor do they make sense but the foreign letters lend some sort of exotic value to things (I assume). Even the paper currency and minted coins in China have English on them! You wouldn't see French or Chinese or Arabic on US currency.

Also, many people in these cities speak English, German, French, etc. They'll speak whichever language is needed to facilitate commerce. In many ways, the average Chinese person has become more of a pro-capitalist than the average American! Remember who (allegedly) said, "To get rich is glorious."

And here's an example of the kind of shift that has occurred in China thanks to their exposure to Western-style consumerism. Their purchasing patterns and expectations have become far more Western:  http://daxueconsulting.com/the-secret-recipe-of-heyteas-buzz-in-china/
