The stickers appear to be doing their job, as no further incidents were reported to emergency services following their installation.

So why are we still flogging that dead horse? And how many of those reports were because people had their heads buried in their iPhones? Ever watch the hilarious YouTube videos of people falling down stairs, tripping into a fountain, falling over a ledge, walking into a lamp post or stop sign. Then there’s the dramatic increases in pedestrian deaths in traffic. Interestingly though, pedestrian deaths are increasing the most in states that have legalized Pot. Lots of Darwin Awards to be bestowed.

I can imagine Don DeLillo is highly amused. Was it White Noise where he talked about a house so environmentally snug that birds crashed into its windows? Ah, reality outdoes fiction once again.

Pet peeve of mine: Architects that are so intent on making a design statement they forget someone has to live or work in the place. In this case I can’t tell though if it was the architects or Ive and the others from Apple that pushed this.
The debate may have concluded UX style, that they'll build it with minimalist principles, then solve for issues while it gets used, aka User Testing :D

Because this is a forum, we get to discuss Apple stuff, and this is a very curious scenario coming from a company that prides itself on attention to details.
Also, just because there were no more calls to emergency services doesn't mean the issue has been solved. I for one still believe people are still walking into glass, not as often, but that it's still a problem.
Sheesh, APPL investors are so touchy! Calm down, smoke some pot :D

It was clearly a coding problem.

It's ridiculous that Apple went forward assuming this would be a non-issue.
No, they aren't snowflakes so they didn't panic and put a halt to the project.  They realized that if it turned out to be a problem with any particular area, they would have a ton of simple solutions, e.g., a 99 cent sticker.  Problem solved as shown in the article for probably less than ten dollars on a multi-billion dollar building.

    1) You call people that plan ahead snowflakes? Good one™

    2) You think it would bring a project to a stop to have to consider decals or etching on glass? Did you not read how about much time they spent on very minor aesthetic items for the new campus?

    3) Are you not familiar with Apple at all?

    4) So you're the guy who is still defending the hockey puck mouse.

I know Apple like the back of my hand.  I also the understand the issues with a multi-billion dollar construction project and the countless number of modifications that take place as people use a building. So no, it wasn't "ridiculous" that the project managers when someone speculated that people who weren't paying attention might walk into a wall in a 2.8 million sf ft largely glass building would nod and move on, knowing that they already knew they would be potentially making a few modifications, like putting up  99 cent stickers, if and where needed, as people moved in and started using the building, if people turned out to be clumsier or more inattentive than they hoped.

Except that you don’t etch glass while it’s in place. And I don’t think Apple wants to take out each piece to a place to be etched. Stickers are the only feasible option and of course there are many possible colors and designs.
LOL, sorry everyone, you have to move back out... we have to disassemble the 'space ship' and fix each panel...

Seems like something the chief architect should of thought of.
That is way outside the realm of "chief architect".  They are only involved in the big stuff.  Minions worry about practical issues.
Surely the big stuff include the positioning of walls and what they are made of, unless I’ve had very attentive to detail architects.

Maybe in bigger projects they just stroll in, wearing a chief architect cape and wave their have around declaiming “Make it big and circular like a spaceship”. Then after huge rounds of applause, they leave and it’s on to the next project.

My company built a new HQ a few years ago, with an "open design" with lots of glass panels and glass doors.  During the first few weeks it was a bit confusing and awkward for everyone, and our building wasn't as radically transparent at the pictures included in this thread above.  The solution was--surprise, surprise--to etch some frosted lines on the doors and on various other panels and it hasn't been an issue since.  And no they didn't use stickers nor disassemble anything to edge the glass.

Seriously, look at those pictures above (which I am too lazy to insert here).  It's really hard to tell if where the darn walls are.  It's looks cool, but people shouldn't have to walk around with their hands out to avoid smacking into glass.  The only fix for walls you can see it to make them less invisible.

You're not allowed to say that. You can only say that Apple never makes mistakes, and you better not say that company makes ridiculous or foolish decisions from time to time.

I read this a while back.

The report’s authors — who also cited smartphone use as a factor — cautioned that their findings don’t show a definitive link between pot and pedestrian deaths but said the increase “provides an early look at potential traffic safety implications of increased access to recreational marijuana for drivers and pedestrians.”

Not sure about the Darwin Award ?  You should probably read a bit more than the headline before we giving  any awards out  B)

Frosted adhesive cut into shapes of trees and leaves to reflect the forestry from out in the park.
These adhesives are very convincing, they look and feel like sandblasted glass.
Frosted decals would probably look nicest. I can see why they wanted to avoid additional decals, the offices look really nice with the clear glass:

I don't think shapes would be enough to cover the size of the panels, it might need some stripes. Small frosted stripes wouldn't look too bad:

It would probably be best not damaging the glass but having some kind of coating. This allows them to change it if they come up with a different design. They could always put those little red Apple Watch dots everywhere, people seem to have no trouble noticing those.
And the bonus here the frosting hides the coffee cups, pizza boxes and kids photos that will be on every desk in a couple of weeks.

Why do you think healthcare costs in the US are so high? Idiots. The answer isn’t marxism, it’s fewer idiots.
