The G is decently clear and there appears to be an Apple logo in the center. However, the part of the image where the 5 is too far away to see clearly.

I don't see that. If anything, I see the Apple logo, the same logo we've had for almost 2 years now.
(This coming from a friend of mine who works at apple and verified by a Couple Co-Workers of mine, who are in Cupertino working with Apple on some new Software specs for our products)
1. The case is real (Sorry no POS Unit Attached hehehe)
2. 166 Front Side
3. 300 Back Side
4. up to 2.5 GB of Ram
5. G4 and G5 Slots (But if you try and open the G5 Slot without a Processor, your warranty is Void, because it will short out the MOBO (This Might Change)
6. Will be announced when Apple Releases OS X 10.2
5. Super Drives on both Highend Models
7. the 2 USB Ports in back and the 2 Firewire Ports in Back are both USB and FW 2.0
I disagree. I think the fact that Apple has gone nuts with the Cease and Desists partially confirms the validity of these photos - which only adds fuel to the disscusion.

the cease and desists don't necessarily mean that the photos (or future evidence) are legit. It just means that apple wants to stop people from looking at them. it could be a smoke screen. remember that in order for these pictures to be legit, it would infer that Apple is actually making new powermacs. That requires a person to be optimistic. when dealing with apple, only pessimism pays off --optimists only get disappointed.

once again i point out what i've said before apple has never sent a cease and desist order for any other fake crap thats been out there and they have eachtime something legit has leaked out.

well, this could be the first one(s). and even if the picture is real, it doesn't mean whats depicted is a finished case. maybe Apple is just ceasing (and desisting) people from viewing their test boxen.

I admit I am an optimist, and yes I've been dissapointed by apple before, but almost four years with the same quality machine, G3 B&W 350Mhz, has been anything but a dissapointment.
And I agree with you that the Cease and Desist does not confirm the validity of the photos, you'll notice i said that it partially confirms their validity. I also agree with you that optomists are the only ones who get dissapointed, and that pessimism is a perfectly rational and reasonable response. But not all of us are pessimists, and i don't think we'ed be having disscusions about future hardware if we were pessimists
My point, in the whole, is that the Cease and Desist orders from apple have not squealched this conversation, i think they have fortified it. You're still posting, aren't You? I am. Lots of other people are. people are still fascinated, because people still want new PowerMacs, and we're waiting for a significant speed bump before buying.
Apple knows what we're waiting for, and they'll deliver as best they can. They're not malicous, they don't hold back out of spite. They, like any other company trying to make a profit, want to sell the best product they can and make as much money as they can while selling it.
My advice - prepare for new PowerMacs. pray for g5s. Expect DDR.
WHoever posted the Pics felt safe taking a pic of the processor, Apple58 claimed he was unable to disclose specs to avoid identifying himself. That makes me think it is just a clock speed and not a processor change. Of course I guess if they were all G5s with a variety of clock speeds that might explain it too (but then he could have said G5 and ignored the clock speed issue). Where with a G4 the only thing he could have given us is a clock speed.

On the PDF, he did say "G5 Ready" Which isn't very clear at all...
Yawn, why don't you take Apple on or you are going to be awake all night removing these things.
Freedom of speech should allow us to tell others where to look and that includes publishing URL's. If Flint can win so can you. Every motoring magazine prints spy picturers of development cars.
Every time I come back to the AI forums, it seems that a few more pages have been added to this thread. It's unreal.
In terms of posts per day, this has got to be the most active thread the AI forums have ever had.

We have freedom of speech up until it infringes on others' rights.
Like, harassment, abuse - or in this case copyright and trade secrets.

That's why they say: Patience is a virtue.

That's always a plus!
Now that I look at the pic over at MacNN, it just might have G5 silk-screened on the side, but I can't really tell.

No way. You can't make a subliminal Mickey Mouse with a 5.

Anyway, mods how are you going to keep these pics off of AI without you all have one massive simultaneous heart attack? (rhetorical, by the way)
