From personal experience, AirPods Pro sound quality is similar to PowerBeats Pro--in other words satisfactory and much better than classical AirPods (which I consider awful). Classical AirPods fall out of my ears too easily, especially when talking or eating. I don't believe that will be a problem with the Pros. On the other hand, I own several pairs of over-the-ear noise cancelling headphones (Bose, Parrot, Beats, Sony) and... the AirPods Pro noise cancellation is simply wimpy while often introducing an uncomfortable/annoying audio effect that the others do not. Transparency mode is also too subtle IMHO. I'll probably return the AirPods Pro and stick to using PowerBeats Pro for my routine listening. The noise cancellation adds almost nothing to the listening experience and has the frequent drawback of the uncomfortable feeling.
Why is nobody talking about the sound quality? Yeah, I'm sure the noise cancellation is handy, but what's the sound quality like compared to the prior AirPods or other wireless earbuds on the market?
I second this comment. What’s the sound quality like?
I don't understand how squeezing (which requires both the thumb and forefinger) is better than tapping. What if I'm wearing gloves? I can easily tap with gloves, but how am I supposed to get my thumb between the AirPod and my ear without pulling the AirPods out of my ear if I'm wearing gloves?. It seems to me that squeezing is "harder" in that it takes more time to do than just tapping.
That said, I did pre-order my AIrPods Pro, so I guess I'll find out soon. Still, it's disconcerting.
It not better, but it does prevent the tip from being lodged in your ear, which would be unpleasant / dangerous!

It's more comfortable than old AirPods for sure. Sounds quality is perfect - I would give a score 10 out of 10, better than Beat Pro and Nuraphone. But what I really surprise is that the ANC is out of this world. It's perfect if you want to block ANY noise, loud or not.

Mine arrived this afternoon and i can only be subjective, but compared to my airpods 2 the sound quality seems much more detailed. The noise cancellation probably accounts for a lot of that, but there’s more.. the bass seems way better.
They are comfortable to wear and also IMO look less quirky - I’m pleased.
The fit is also more solid with the silicon tips - Giving them a squeeze with gloves on might well be possible depending on what kind of gloves you’re wearing

Thanks for your comments. This is exactly what I was hoping to hear!
These really do solve all of the complaints I had about the original AirPods. It's a shame that I recently bought the AirPod Pro's main competitor (Sony WF-1000XM3).
