The new 16” MacBook Pro is having problems with popping noises coming from the speakers, and ghosting images on the Screen! Lackluster Quality Control!
At least you're glad that you're living in the past,

unlike some "pros" who pays for one and still can't manage to live a new life...

You can say its in the past all you want, but you really don’t know what other Macs and Apple products I own. try just a little to not be so judgmental. Bob “Dr. Mac” Levite’s advised his Readers and listeners not to put Catalina on any of their Macs, yet! Is he living in the past, too? Do you know what equipment he has or uses? Do you think that my 17” Mac Book Pro is my only Mac? LOL! You must have great Psychic Powers, then! Do you think, like Fastasleep, that I must use only DVD/CD’s for storage, since I mentioned still burning and playing them? Did it ever cross your mind, that I could and do have/use Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, FM, AM, Sirius XM Radio, Radio.com,Amazon Music, TuneIn radio, YouTube Music, iHeart Radio, HiDef Radio,JazzRadio.com, and others.

Many Mac Experts and Writers have spoken about, and reviewed the 16” Mac Book pro recently, and have concluded that it still has shortcomings, one of which, is the USB-C only port situation! Are they living in the Past, too? You don’t know what other equipment they use, and you don’t know what else I own. There is a Mac-website called Low End Mac, which helps and advises users on ways to get the most life out of their current Macs, and even how to purchase older Macs that are perfectly capable of getting the job done!~maybe you should check it out. I don’t care what you think about my purchase decisions, how I spend MY MONEY, and whether I want too continue to enjoy what I paid for! It’s not your decision to make. Should I throw my C6 Corvette away, just because the new C8 model is available, now? You make a lot of Silly assumptions.

I don’t know why some people can’t allow other people to make their own choices, without feeling the need to criticize them , if they don’t look at the need to buy, the same ways. Environmentally, its very wasteful, and harmful to the environment, to get rid of perfectly working equipment, even though Apple has come a long way in recent years in trying to be “Green”. I don’t remember trying to tell you what and when you should purchase or get rid of equipment. I also don’t believe in having kids and poor people mining Silica underground to make our Electronics, or working 12-16 hours a day, for $3-$5/hour to make our Apple products, but I don’t tell you that you shouldn’t buy them, at your own timetable. Don’t worry about what I buy, since you can’t have a conversation on a Forum, without passing insults and childish remarks.

Also worth noting is that the 17" still has a significantly bigger screen despite the 16" higher resolution making everything smaller with the whole point as to why the 17" is "yet still much beloved".

With a new bezel'less design, Apple could be making an 18" at this point and it would be thinner and essentially smaller than the 2011 17". Are people really complaining that the 17" is too heavy by being 2 lbs heavier than the new 16"? It's not like you're holding it while you work.

While I'm at it, why is the iPhone, iPad and the iMac all have nice hard glass screens and have "supersized" versions of each line-up while the MacBook Pro's are relegated to a flimsy small one? It's just so lame. As a designer, I'd like all the visual real-estate I can get and the 16" is still too cramped for a sustained work computer.

The 17" at 6.6 lbs vs the 16" at 4.3 lbs makes the 17" 53% heavier. Imagine if everything you carry in your backpack is at least 50% heavier. While I prefer a big monitor I have to sacrifice something for portability.

If you need to get into some serious design work and need to do sustained work then I will connect an external monitor. Laptops are meant to be portable. If you spend a few days at one location and need to go with a big screen then you can most likely obtain one at the site or take one with you. If you aren't willing or unable to do either of those measures then you will have some reduced productivity.

It's the best compromise for Apple.  15" is slightly too small and 17" is clunky just by surface area, plus pretty much every monitor are going to exceed 20".
