For CES 2020, Eve Systems is launching the world's first security camera that works exclusively with HomeKit Secure Video. Eve Cam is an elegant plug-and-play camera that offers simple setup, end-to-end encryption, and full support of Apple's HomeKit Secure Video feature for storage footage.

The new wired home security camera adopts a familiar design and has a rotating and tilting base that can be mounted anywhere. It has a 150-degree field of view and captures footage at 1080p and supports infrared night vision, two-way audio, and subject detection.

With HomeKit integration, users can disable the camera when family members are home and push out notifications when pets, vehicles, or people are detected while away. A motion sensor is used to trigger scenes and automation rules.

Eve Cam is built entirely around HomeKit, which means there is no third-party server or subscription necessary and everything is encrypted through your Home Hub. Users can view their recordings within the Home app using HomeKit Secure Video which stores footage in iCloud.

Apple will store up to ten days of recordings inside of iCloud for one camera if subscribed to the 200GB iCloud Storage Plan and will store up to ten days of recordings for five cameras if on the 2TB iCloud Storage Plan. HomeKit Secure Video recordings will not count against storage capacity. The 2TB plan runs users $9.99 a month which is favorable compared to third-party storage plans and iCloud also has far more features to back it up outside of video storage.

When Eve Cam launches in April it will retail for $149.

Eve also announced the second-generation model of its popular Eve Energy smart plug with an all-new design and lower price tag as well as availability of its Eve Water Guard.

Agreed.   I’ll probably buy one or two if I can hook it in with presence in the house and turn it off when someone is home but the need is for outdoor external systems with HomeKit secure video.  (And preferably 4K so you can get better detail like license plates etc).

I have reasonable trust that Apple can keep the video recordings private and cannot be hacked. I do not have a similar trust level that all the other vendors of security cams ( especially the budget ones) can maintain a similar level of security.

Ugh, is a black outdoor Homekit camera too much to ask for??? Not all of us have houses with white trim, and all these white cameras stick out like a sore thumb. :(

Maybe the white is to prevent the camera being baked in the sun?

Didn't take long to find these for the HomeKit compatible Arlo outdoor cameras.
