This is probably a good representation of how non-techies see this whole thing. And, they aren't going to necessarily be up on the details of switch type, or which models of Apple laptop have what. And, even as Apple (hopefully) fixes the entire lineup... how many years will this reputation of 'laptops with bad keyboards' follow them?

I've owned three Macbook Pro's with butterfly keyboards; two are 2016 models; the third, 2019. All three have had to have their keyboards replaced; one of them, twice. I still prefer Macs, but I do wish the butterfly keyboard stayed on the drawing board.
But, don't worry... it is very rare, just like 90%ish percent of podcasters and YouTubers who just happened to be as unlucky as you.

Lousy keyboards aside: Hunching over laptops is a big problem; one that better keyboards won’t fix.

If we have to add a separate keyboard & pointing device, place our laptops on lap boards (to protect us from burns or overheating), have to buy desk risers for proper height and/or buy an extra display...

...maybe laptops really aren’t the end-all be-all personal computing device.

We need more choices in desktop computers with detached displays... displays that don’t cost $5000... which we are constantly being told aren’t for us anyway. Okay then, which first-party, made-for-Mac displays should we be buying?

    Asking you, Apple...

Laptops are convenient for owning only one computer but they’re sure not convenient for ergonomics.
Yeah, maybe the problem is that too many people now don't use laptops as laptops anymore. I suspect that the majority of people like developers, etc. use them more like portable desktops (ie. plug in to home docking station... plug into work docking station...).

I almost went down that road. I was saving up for a new MBP when Apple made a mess of the lineup. So, I suppose I should be grateful for them setting me straight. I'd have ended up with a compromised situation compared to what I have now, especially since I don't need the same mobile workflows I used to (so I can get away with an iPad for mobile, and a more appropriate computer on the desk). But, yes, Apple does have a pretty big hole in the computer lineup, and especially with displays (depending on needs).
