    Find My
Support for third-party products and accessories will be offered via a new Find My network accessory program, which will continue to offer end-to-end encryption built-in for privacy. A draft specification is now available to accessory vendors and product manufacturers concerning the Find My network accessory program.

This is interesting. Is AirTag still coming? Because it looks to me like they're going to open this up to anyone who wants to make any kind of trackable item they want:

All of this looks amazing. Several of these things are a "FINALLY!" to me, others certainly nice to have, and many many improvements across various areas. Overall an awesome upgrade and far more than I thought they'd be able to pull off this year given everything going on.

The Spotlight thing was kinda weird since I already use it to launch apps, find apps in the App Store, start web searches, etc etc. Looks like this is definitely building on all of that though.

The users here who immediately are all, "get that crap off my phone" or "I'll turn that off right away" — you guys are such bummers, it's hilarious.

So far this WWDC Keynote has been a disgusting display of diverse robots reading from scripts with absolutely no genuine excitement or personal involvement. And it started with a political speech from Cook too. This thing is beyond the pale.
Get fucking real. Seriously. Whatever is going on in your head is worrisome.

And, macOS is the last item on the list for discussion. It has become crystal clear that Macs and macOS are now the red headed step child no one wants to talk about. when Jobs changed the name from Apple Computer to Apple Inc the handwriting was on the wall. Apple thinks Macs and macOS are EOL. They just haven't come right on and said it.
LOL.  I'm surprised you didn't delete this post after seeing the last segment of the keynote.  How does it feel to be proven so wrong, so fast?
Macs ARE dead. The new machines are just iPads with a few ports.
Delusional. Do not operate heavy machinery, for your own safety, please.

It’s how some people cope with change and the unknown — they adopt outright rejection from the get go, it makes it easier foe them.

Unsurprisingly that seems to overlap with people who think addressing racial injustice is "political".

I'm sure someone will come in here claiming that others had widgets first even though those OSes didn't predate when Apple first offered widgets.
In what form did Apple offer widgets on iOS before Android?

of course there will come many claiming that this is what android has for years... well, most of my friends are android users... yes, they have widgets and things like that... they also have various desktops and always get confused where are the apps they installed and what is the logic behind how they are ordered... apple's approach seems to be somewhat half way what they had now and the mess android has now... cannot wait to get the public beta to play with...
Happens every year. Apple borrows a couple things from Android and then when it's Google's turn to do their developer preview they'll include a couple of things borrowed from Apple. This year was just a more Android-y than normal iOS feature preview.

Not iOS, but other OSes, which means the notion of widgets isn't something new to them. It's not an idea they stole after first learning about them from Android, it's simply something they chose not to incorporate on their iOS home screen until now.

Why do you and others insist on using "Stolen" instead of imitating or developing their own version? Geesh, neither Apple nor Google have "stolen" from each other. They both pay attention to new ideas or implementations and if they think they're useful they find a way of developing them for their own devices. Google comes up with lots of good ideas before Apple does and vice versa. This particular iOS version will include these smartphone features already implemented on Android, but they obviously couldn't "steal" them. Apple had to develop their own versions:
    • Home screen widgets.
    • App drawer.
    • Picture-in-picture.
    • Set default apps.
    • Translate app.
    • App Clips.
    • New Siri design.
    • App permissions in App Store.
    • On-device voice recognition for keyboard input
    • Safari password monitoring
    • Wind-down mode

Apple had widgets on OS X before Android was a thing. Thus the notion that they never thought of them before is silly. They choose what they want to implement and when for their own reasons.

It should, there's no disclaimer that it's limited to a subset of the Pencil-compatible iPads.

A (dumb) question for anyone who can answer it: If I buy an AirPods Pro now, will I be able to get the upcoming Spatial Audio feature later, when it becomes available? Thank you.

    *snip*

Hell, the branding for WWDC this year is thousands of developers behind MacBook screens.
Lol, I didn’t even make that connection.

I haven’t had a chance to watch the keynote yet. Hopefully this weekend. Sounds like a lot of good stuff was announced.

Can't wait to change my default mail app. Not really seeing anything else immediately interesting.

All this faff around messages/emoji's is very nothing IMO. What they really need to do is offer an iMessage app for android; this would open up it's use 100 fold.

Why wouldn't they want to compete with WhatsApp? I don't get it.

And what benefit would that give Apple? iMessage is a selling point for iPhones.

Well I own an iPhone and barely use iMessage because 'everyone' is on Whatsapp

iMessage will and should always be better on iPhone, but it is really frustrating that I have to use whatsapp (against my will) because thats where my friendship groups and work colleagues are
