I'm happy to show you mine. It's a Russian beauty Lada 2106 from 1981. Bought it in 1982, just days after getting my licence

My first car was a 1971(ish) Chevrolet Impala. It was a family hand me down (I'm not THAT old). It was dark blue and BIG. My friends didn't call it a tank; it was a BATTLESHIP. It would seat 8 easily (and sleep three) and at 15 years old could still do 120 mph. My parents put me in that car for my own safety--forget the OTHER drivers; they were on their own. That car could pass everything except a gas station.

i loved those old impalas....i think that it was the american "car of the people" before the oil crisis.

i was glad to see chevy revived it recently.

My uncle gave me a POS fort escort hatch back.. I sort of shared it with the rest of the family cause they spent all their money on a huge conversion van.

The first car of my own still is a 1989 Camaro RS 305 V8

Looks a lot like that but my body is in mint condition.

I don't have a picture of it right now, but my first car's my dad's old 1995 Toyota Corolla. It's been mine for about 5 days now, since my dad got a new car. I can't really even use it yet, unless I'm with someone with a liscence that's over 18.

A 1999 Volvo S70 T5 (not the one in the photo). Black on black. It was my mother's but she only had it for six months before she decided she "needed" an SUV. The seats were fantastic, I've sat in none better. And the turbo was great, I'd guess 0-60 between six and seven seconds. And it never, ever attracted police. Why was it replaced? Upon seeing the Jaguar X-Type I had no other choice.

MUSCLE, that's what I'm talkin' about...not some sissy ass gramma car on the autobohn, hell my wifes Saturn wagon goes over 100mph.

Bring your car over here, and I guarantee there will be some German iron trying to run it over. The autobahns here aren't the straight, flat freeways of the midwest. I've been doing 150 mph in my 944 Turbo and after feeling the g-forces, I've had to back down a notch. I'd have to say that the Monte's suspension will get a run for it's money here.

By the way, I've been passed (once) while driving an indicated 155 mph.

Here's my Honda, which is completely gutless in the autobahn. I could have used a V8!

I like your taste. I heard the X-Type was less than desirable though. What are your thoughts on the matter?

As most cars here in Germany that could go faster are throttled at 155 mph, the chances are low to get passed at that speed.

My personal speed record was 143 mph with my fathers BMW. Having currently a car with a max speed of about 99 mph (Landrover Freelander 2.0 TDI), I miss driving my last car at up to 123 mph (Mercedes E 220 CDI)...

My first car was a kickin' '76 Toyota Corolla SR5 with a 5 speed stick. Loved that car man. Called it the Red Rocket. (this isn't mine BTW, had to go looking online to get a pic - basically identical though)

The lease is up on our '99 Toyota Sienna minivan in a month, and I'm trying hard to convince my wife that it's overkill for us. We use the extra space once a year when we go on a holiday... I think a good sized car would suit our needs fine. Keep the luggage up top in a carrier on holidays.

Looking seriously at the '03 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE:

The 245 ponies will carry around the family carriage nicely. Now to convince her that it would be a good FINANCIAL move to get a 5 speed manual over the auto.

    heh heh

Why is it less than desirable? Is it a quality issue? The car sure looks nice, wouldn't mind having one

I never should have sold it. Found it sitting in a barn in Pennsylvania, smelling like hay. It belonged to a kid who went off to Viet Nam, and when he came back he no longer had an interest in fast cars. I had it for three years before selling it to a cousin who proceeded to lose his license and wrap it around a tree. The LT-1 engine option made for one unforgiving monster. If you didn't know what you were doing you had best just take it easy. He didn't.

No, it's not mine and unfortunately I don't have mine anymore. It's a purely identical one, even the colour. Couldn't find a pic of mine so I found that one on the web. The car is originally designed in Italy and was produced under the FIAT name in the 60's and early 70's (FIAT 125 I think it was called). Then the Russians bought the production line and I think it was in production till the mid or even late 80's.

Higher gas mileage and lower repair costs.

Although the first car I drove on a regular basis was a tan 1987 Chevy Celebrity Station Wagon, it was not MINE. My parents let me drive it, even though it belonged to them.

The following is my current car, and the first car that belongs to me:

2003 Hyundai Sonata GLS in White Pearl

The initial draw of the X-Type was the visual appeal and the plush interior, but its no slouch at driving either. I understand that some of the earlier X-Type had some quality problems, however, mine (a 2003) seems to be perfect in that regard, or at least in "initial quality" as they say. The S-Type apparently also had quality problems when it was first introduced. I would have taken one of those, but I didn?t pay for the car myself and had a price limit that excluded the S-Type with the V8.

1986 Pontiac 6000 STE (Special Touring Edition)

This car was awesome. All digital dash, Electronic Air Suspension, and a kick ass sound from the muffler. Only a 2.8L 150 HP V6 though.

    Too lazy for the photo.

    My first and only:

Mine's a 95, black w/ white leather. I drive the poor thing like a Mustang though; I did about 98 over the top of a hill, and the jaring landing seems to have caused a piece in the driver's side door to come out and prevent the window from going down all the way
