a british group named caravan did a couple in the 70's that i will remember forever, one was called "for girls who grow plump in the night" but my favorite was the one after called "cunning stunts"
I've always thought that Nation of Ulysses had one of the coolest sounds-meaningful-but-actually-isn't band names of all time.
I'm digging the music of LCD Soundsystem (side project of DFA production guy / label honcho James Murphy) even more than the name at the moment. But you gotta admit that it is a pretty cool name.
Touching You In Ways That Don't Feel Comfortable by Blood Sausage could possibly be my all time favorite record title. It's only a 7" EP though, so the award for favorite album title goes to Trumans Water's Spasm Smash X X X Ox Ox Ox and Ass.
The Fall do have some of the best song titles. Though we never got around to putting it out my former band's second album was tentatively titled Inappropriate Touching which I think was pretty good.
Remember when bands like Duran Duran, Depeche Mode or Missing Persons were considered cool names? Of course not-- half of this board weren't alive when these groups were formed.
I was .
Oh, and I vote Meatloaf for the best cover art. Ever.

I bought that on strength of title alone.
