An incremental speed update, as expected, due to better 5nm results yielding a higher proportion of working cores per chip.

It is a shame that as Apple's in-house chips incrementally improve, their industrial design incrementally worsens.

You know, I gave it some thought, and I'm in total opposition to your take.

Apple has made a fanless laptop basically the best laptop product in the market. That sounds like their industrial design is incredibly good. The MBA is legit the best laptop for the vast majority of laptop buyers in the market. There are software availability issues regarding Windows versus macOS, but even with that, the 2022 MBA is the best laptop in the market. The 2020 MBA is the 2nd best laptop in the market. These laptops are silent, stay cool, last a long time on battery, require very little power, and are more performant than what, 90% of the laptop market.

The 1900 GB5 single CPU core score is basically the same performance as an Alder Lake desktop processor in single thread, in a fanless laptop. The 9000 GB5 multicore score, also quite respectable. The 30k GB5 compute score is about the same as mid-range 2020 MBP16 GPU, in a fanless enclosure. The new enclosure is just as good as the old one.

Most of the complaints are really about price, product segmentation, and product entries. The industrial design of the latest products is typically the best thing about their products. I think it is a really hard sell to say the 2021 MBP, 2022 MBA, and iMac 24 are worse in industrial design than the models they replaced.

A general everyday buyer isn't even going to be using the full power of the M1, let alone the upgraded M2. What exactly were you expecting? Do you honestly think Apple should have a 40-50% or higher increase in performance with every single new SoC?

Where is the Mac Pro? What chip will it use? Graphics? Memory? Slots? This is the real mystery.
