They are designing for the masses and not fit a few people who complain. This reminds of my father-in-law who wants to replace his truck with a size that Ford does not make any more and cherry pick features off of Toyota, Chevy and Dodge that Ford too does not have. He wants something that does not exist so he either makes do with whatโs available. No need to dream about nonexistent items.
I still use my iPhone 7 largely for the reason that I prefer a physical home button over ridiculous swipes I need to memorize. Whenever my son needs help on his XR, it frustrates me because it requires silly swipes. I just want a freaking button press phone, okay?!
Why not the SE or similar? Because, let's face it -- those phones aren't the latest and greatest. And if I ever upgrade my phone, I want the best camera tech available. I won't get that in an SE.
Give me the best camera, and give me a physical button. Besides, in this world of masks, TouchID makes a lot more sense too.
Yes, apple needs to stop with these featureless slabs and realized that tactile feedback is important. (And making it vibrate a half second after you press the fake button is not "Tactile feedback")
Same complaint from users when they first switch, especially if they delayed the inevitable.
He'll get over it.
Agree about weight. As Apple attempts to continually increase battery life with smaller efficient chips they are also for some reason increasing the battery size too much. The current MacBook Pro 16" is a perfect example. It's like carrying a lead brick and reminds me of the original Macintosh Portable
Ok, so MacBook Pro is to heavy for you. You compare it to some old PC.
Apple needs to get into talks with Wakanda so they can get exclusive access to vibranium, for the next generation of mobiles and desktops. And make the next Mac Pro out of whatever was used to make Stormbreaker.
All the people I come across who 'miss the home button' don't know sliding the finger up from the bottom halfway, has the function they are missing.
The same could be said of you regarding my bank account, in light of the fact you don't know the password.
Seriously.
How is a swipe of any kind which you do not know suppose to be called "intuitive"? At least with a button there, even if you don't know what it does, you press it to find out. And the great part is, it has but only 2 states -- pressed or not pressed. With swipes, the possibilities are endless.
THAT IS WHY people like myself prefer the button. Even if you are the most forgetful person on the planet, you can still press it and get where you're going. Forget the right swipe, and your day will end in frustration.

Double press, triple press, long press, press with other buttons pressed.

Not sure what you mean, but I still feel the existence of the button is better off for my feeble brain than an iPhone without it.

the MBP 16 is nothing like it. And there are other options that weight a lot less with a much bigger screen than the old portable.
How am I the first person to point this out and I don't even watch any of that superhero stuff.
Seriously.
