Virginia blows. At best the third best large public schools in the US. Not a hot chick on the entire campus. Might as well be at a school for bull dykes.
What the fsck are you talking about? When's the last time you came here?
So you think you're opinion is more accurate than us news?
What the fsck are you talking about? When's the last time you came here?
To be honest I've never been to UVA's campus.

Could be. Or not. But I was just messin around with you in a playful non-Scott way. UVA is a very good school.
But in all seriousness, it sounds like you are taking those rankings a bit too seriously. They're useful as a means of finding out certain facts such as class size or profs rather than grad students teaching undergrad. The rankings have merit as well within large enough categories. To say that public school #4 is better than public school #97 is to recognize what is likely to be a sizeable gap in the real world attributes which are plugged into their formula. To suggest that public #4 is appreciably better than school #5 because a specific methodology spits that out is to read way too much into that shit. They're distilling hundreds of faculty, thousands of classes and zillions of variables into their nice little formula and any number of slight variances in the figures from year to year can cause fluctuations which do not match those of a real world educational experience. UVA was not always #1 and when it was #3 it was not necessarily any less of a school or any worse in comparison to the others at the time that outranked it than it is now.

And what school did you go to?
I went to Linden Elementary School. Then McKelvey Elementary School. Followed by Doss Elementary School. Then I went to Slauson Junior High. Except it changed from 7/8/9 to 6/7/8 so it was Slauson Junior High the first year when we were in 7th grade and it became Slauson Middle School the following year when we were in 8th grade. Then I went to Pioneer High School although I also took some classes at Community High School. After that I went to some university, I forget the name. It's not UVA and it ain't Berkeley so it aint #1 in the usnews rankings. So there, a pox on me for being uppity about my inferior school. It is/was a public school. With a lousy football team.

And you know what? It's very offensive and impolite to diss someone's school.
Not at all, at least not in this country. It's good sport and an engrained tradtion. Especially when you've got a mascot who looks like a gay Zorro on crack. A little friendly banter and the occasion poke to the ribs is all fine and good. College rivalries abound. You should be leaping at the chance to mock Scott since IIRC either he or the freak who married him went to Virginia Tech. Hence his attitude on UVA. It shouldn't be too hard to make fun of someone who went to school at that prison colony that is Blacksburg. Deliverance State University, home of the fighting neutered turkeys.
Now if you take it a step further and are spiteful then maybe that is not so good. But a little joshing is all fine and dandy.
You might want to cut that coke if you find your dining hall serves it too concentrated. Try oxycontin, it's more hip anyway. Or if you want the proletariet's demon of choice then there is always meth.
what the **** do you know? Go to usnews and check the damn ranking!
think before you type...
Btw, we're tied for No. 1. that doesn't mean Uva isn't no. 1. It isn't exclusive.
usnews sucks
either way,Cal's been number one like 7 years in a row now.... congrats on the tie this year.
in reality USNews rankings mean shit. they place way too much weight on certain criteria and not enough on others.
as an "overall ranking" id say virgina would be 4th maybe 5th....... michigan should def be ahead.....and cal. a couple others probably borderline with it.
Where you get your undergraduate education does not matter much unless you plan to go into the job market right after it.
My advice: consider a top-tier private school for your graduate studies.
people who dont go to great colleges for undergrad say that.
it's like my HS....they pushed st. john's and queens college and stony brook and iona and alllllll the students were like, undergrad doesn't matter, ill go there, save money, and then go to harvard for grad.
u aint making harvard grad or any other top tier grad school out of those types of colleges.
besides that.... going to a big name or popular or high ranked college for undergrad is more about the experience....its just uncomparable.
I pulled out the thing about ranking to try to prove that Uva is not as bad as you all say it is. I understand that it may not be a true representation but it must bear some truth. Again, I do not take it as seriously you might think.
Colander, sorry about that. I couldn't tell you were joking about it, my bad.
I guess I'm just kinda angry about how the thread lead. When I opened the thread, I had just payed the deposit to UVa. It was such a hard decision for me. It was the place I would start my new life.
Then some bastards come along and ruin it.
But it's ok now.
Oh yeah, people here make fun of Tech all the time. I'm not sure why, but I just join them anyway,

i'd be pissed off too. it was extremely rude and immature.
UVA is a great school. right up there with all the other great schools both public and private.
i had an extremely difficult time deciding where to go. nearly killed myself for 2 months deciding.
i chose something i wasnt as sure of and I love it now that I'm here. all my friends love where they are. basically, you can't go wrong. college rules and is a ton of fun but a ton of hard work as well.
just get involved and make the most of it. can't go wrong.
UVA is a great school. my brother went there but he's much smarter than me. you'd sh!t if i told you where he worked and his position. it's pretty fvcking impressive, VERY impressive

Where does he work and what is his position? What did he study? I'm thinking of doing cognitive science and become a designer of interactive systems.
I noticed Americans tend to interpret interest into nosiness. I'm just interested.

So where the **** does UVa get a such a bad reputation amongst you lot?

Coke? oh yeah, we have plenty of it. But I prefer juice and lemonade usually. The coke here at our dining hall is a little too concentrated.
I'm in the college of arts and sciences.
But seriously every UVA grad' I've ever met has been a world class a-hole.

Well, I haven't met many grad students. What you say may be well true, but I'll have to check it out.
Where are you doing grad school?

UVA is nice but.....eh..... seems boring to me.
