The battery electrical capacity was *halved* (1200 mAh -> 630mAh), yet the playtime dropped only 20%. The capacity being halved allowed for the pack to be smaller, lighter... these are good things. A 2hr drop in playback time when you *still* get 8 solid hrs out of it is, IMHO, a small price to pay.
Why does everybody not like the new buttons? I thought that everyone was looking forward to the update to new iMovie 3 style buttons. IMO they look alot better than the old ones. See if they grow on you after a few days. I think it might just be a bit of a shock after using the old ones for so long.
And I dont really think its worth writing to Apple about. But, if you fell that strongly...
As far as the font size thing... that can be changed in the iTunes prefs under "general" (or am I misunderstanding the complaint?).
Um, yes: the complaint is that the "small" text option has now gone to either 8 or 9 point, so most people's font-smoothing setup (9 pt or lower) makes it look ugly. The "large" text option doesn't reflect this (I think it's 12pt), but then you can barely fit anything on the screen and it looks a mess.
And ShallowThroat, on the whole, there are incremental improvements throughout iTunes 4, not least the massively reduced processor load. However, if you don't like your free software, you can always ask for your money back...
My God the new buttons are AWFUL.... I launched Quicktime just to admire how beautiful the old style buttons are....
How could apple dump beautiful buttons for disgusting puke.
I miss the old buttons very much and now almost don't even want to launch iTunes as I will puke seeing the cheap disgusting excuse for PC wanna be buttons.
Apple had (past tense) a look that was way ahead and very beautiful to look at. Now they are incorporating buttons that look not fit for a cheap PC software vendor.
If apple is listening to their customers please provide a download that gives options for the look of iTunes... or simply give us back the aqua buttons..

hey FCiB, god called.
he asked that you kindly refrain from invoking his name for ranting about interface buttons, for god's sake.
oops.
p.s. itunes 4 is TONS faster... it now just pops to attention on my wife's pismo powerbook 500 MHz G3. you may not notice it on a really fast machine, but you'll definitely feel it on a slower one.
and the buttons i dont think are THAT bad (although i liked the other ones better) i dont think these will be too bad adn will grow on me. I will probably change them though haha. The only thing that REALLY botheres me is the volume slider...YUCK
Media Center works with PVR technology and in effect turns your Living Room Television into another terminal of your PC it is really cool. Apple? Are you in paying attention?

The thing is, I can do all that Apple has innovated in the past 2 years with my 3 year old iMac. No new hardware needed.

Dude, they're BUTTONS! for crying out loud. Just buttons.

I don't mind them, it's just the fact that all the other buttons don't even remotely match that I object to.
Tell you what, let's play a game: everyone using Safari, make sure you've got the Address Bar turned on with the Back/Forward and Reload buttons enabled, then look up to the top left corner of the window, just under the window widgets. Stare at those three buttons for about 3 minutes.
Now open iTunes 4 and repeat the procedure.
Now open iMovie 3 and look at the three big round things just under the middle of the playback panel.
Now tell me: what do these three apps have in common?

I also agree that the buttons in iTunes 4 look horrible. I'm sending apple a message about that too. We can make a difference.

text smoothing set to 8 in sytem prefs. source and song text set to small in iTunes.
I'm running 10.1.5. Does that make a difference?

I presume you're not using Safari, then?

Personally, I think good-looking buttons are much more important than, say, a cure for cancer.
