Best... Comeback... Ever.

I cannot take credit for finding this gem, and some have said it is not a real interview. Either way, I find it amusing enough to post.

So the following is supposedly from a radio interview on NPR between a female correspondent and United States Marine Corps General Reinwald. General Reinwald was about to sponsor a boy scout troop that was coming to visit his base...

NPR Correspondent: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

General Reinwald: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.

NC: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GR: I don't see why. They'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

NC: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GR: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

NC: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GR: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio then went silent and the interview abruptly ended...

I suppose those little white Christian boys are equipped to be prostitutes too...

Reminds me of the Sam Elliot military officer in We Were Soldiers:

    Day 1

    P1: "Good mornin' Sergeant Major!"

P2: "How do you know what ****ing morning it is?"

    Day 2

    P1: "Good mornin' Sergeant Major!"

P2: "What are you a ****ing a weatherman now?"

As usual, you aren't making a whole lot of sense. Supposing that the interview is authentic, she had it coming.

And I don't know what you're trying to insinuate about white Christian boys. That they have genitalia? That they're irresponsible? Aren't you a white Christian boy?

If you don't understand, that doesn't mean the other person is not making sense. As usual, I see the lack of politeness on this forum has degraded it into one big shithole. Splinemodel takes another dump.

Yeah both of them are pretty much out there. The general's comments are funny because they're just so damn blunt and rude- much like the military man from We Were Soldiers. But I suppose everyone is equipped for prostitution, so there's no force behind his argument- (but it's just a comeback).

So let's all relax, take our swipes at the Boy Scouts, our feminists, or the military, or SPJ and realize that it's all in jest...

heh.. 'cept for the last one. i know you meant it.

But tell us where you really stand on guns.

I must not be nearly as sexist as I had hoped because in my stupor I read a connection between media and whore before woman and prossie (tank you Alii G, Aii!)

As for guns, jeeze, I dunno, as guy who supports legal gun ownership, I look around at some of the yahoos on the same side of this particular fence, and I don't feel so good about it...

Well the guns aren't really the problem, as statistics show (Norway having more guns pr. capita than the US), its the mentality towards them (and the mentality in general). That being said, I think gun laws are a very good tool to change that mentality.

"Sorry, you can't get a gatlin-gun, but we have this nice hunting rifle if you agree to take leassons..."

back when i was a young, christian, boy scout, i learned to shoot a rifle. it was one of the most anxious times in my life, cuz they told us about it, taught us for a long time, and after a huge delay, then we got to touch the guns. and since learning, i haven't [yet] killed anyone with a rifle. i wish back when i was a scout that they took us to a military base to shoot, cause that would've been really cool. i dont think teaching young boys proper gun control is a bad thing. sure, it gives us that much more knowledge of how to successfully use guns, but it also gives us more knowledge of how to avoid the dangers of using guns.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that. The size of the US (land area an population) probably requires a different approach to law enforcement than Norway. Any approach is going to seem insufficient short of banning guns altogether and having harsh penalties for gun related violence (see China.) It 'works' in China...

    Besides...it's Norway....

    "Yo."

"Yo, let's go shoot some people."

    * they go outside to shoot people

    "Screw that, it's f**kin' cold."

back when i was a young, jewish, pirate, i learned how to use pig flesh as a bate for sharks. it was one of the most anxious times in my life, cuz they (the older jewish pirates) told us about it, taught us for a long time, and after a huge delay, then we got to trawl for sharks. and since learning, i haven't [yet] killed any pigs (or fat humans) for a trawl. i wish back when i was a pirate that they took us to shark infested waters to trawl, cause that would've been really cool. i dont think teaching young jewish pirates proper trawlling techniques is a bad thing. sure it gives us that much more knowledge of how to sucessfully use a shark trawl to cover up murderous rage, but it also gives us more knowledge of how to avoid the dangers of trawlling for sharks.

i would like to thank thuh Freak for his inspiration and the academy...

i think i see your point [but, boy do i hait to get zinged ]. but the difference is that most young boys (and girls) aren't going to be raging murderers. i think the majority of em can handle being taught proper firearm use. and in a controlled and disciplined environment like a military base, with parental consent, i think they should be allowed that opportunity. a couple of bad seeds may hone their killing skills, but if a body is going to become a murderer, they are going to learn how to use their weapon anyway. its not like denying these kids the shooting opportunity is going to make any of them less likely to become a killer. or atleast, i dont think it will.

I think it is safe to point out that Mr. Malvo's proficciency, or lack thereof, with a firearm clearly demonstrated that he did not earn the title of 'sniper', else he would have never missed.

Semantecs aside, I do not believe he was taught proper firearm safety. He was obviously educated by a disturbed individual that had very little, if any, real postitive effects on him. Those that are truly disturbed enough to want to go out and kill somebody like that will find a way. For the rest of the people, teaching proper firearm safety and discipline will stop the thousands of other firearm related incidents we never hear about each year involving children that just didn't know better and treated Dad's pistol like a toy.

Banning firearms outright represents a gross fear of the object, when we should not fear it the way that we do. We should respect it, and educate people properly about it; learn to live with it instead of casting away anything that we do not like or understand...

While I normally am against anything the military just on principle, I have a hard time finding fault with this. The government should not teach morality and if they were to say "no, we won't teach kids how to use guns properly because guns are bad" they'd be bordering on it.

Now, I wonder how many people who think that this is a good thing also think that teaching kids how to use condoms is a bad thing? Too many, I'm afraid. (Hypocrisy sucks)
