Just continue writing influence checks if you will, but after they are cashed, there always be the request for more checks.

Seems like a shakedown like in the Mafia movies where one paid for "protection" from the folks getting the check.

Crazy world we live in now. Getting extremely close to George Orwells "1984" story. As the facts have played out, the book is almost a crystal ball of our reality.....

You worry too much about something that has a good chance of never occurring.  And if Trump is one thing he is a negotiator, and I believe it highly unlikely Apple will be hit with a 25% tariff.
Used to be that when the President of the United States said something, it was true, accurate, and trustworthy. He said 25% plain as day, though no deal has been made. Whether or not it happens depends on how much he waffles, again, though we can't discount the fact he may implement it for a few days then pull it, like he has many times before.

There are no negotiations, just demands. He's never been a negotiator. He declares what he wants and expects it to be so. Then he only makes rational changes after his base and his sycophants convince him it's a bad idea or a hoax purveyed by a President from a decade ago. Or whatever excuse he's using this week.

Apple will already be importing the first batches of the 17 range. What a mess from the most idiotic President ever. I thought he was on US companies side.
    Not until very late August.
It is possible that knowing that a deal would not be reached, Apple could have moved up the timeline and already imported a small batch that could handle pre-orders and possible launch weekend with a limited supply.

It's impossible to run a business seriously under Trump, no surprise from an idiot who knows nothing about business and operates by whim of the moment. with six bankruptcies and counting to prove it. (Bankrupting America will be his crowning achievement.) And even if a deal with India is struck, as well as the deals already concluded, why should anyone take them seriously? Because he signs them? You're kidding, right? Look no further than the Trump-negotiated and signed USMCA--his fabulous deal that he touted as so much better than NAFTA, when it was nothing of the sort--which he proceeded to torch almost as soon as he got back into office. His signature and word mean NOTHING--they're worthless--and are subject to being disregarded at any moment for reasons Trump will happily fabricate when no good reasons exist.

8x? Last I checked 25% from 10% is 2.5X. And we don't know the minutiae. So if that sticks, I doubt it's going to be some crazy trouble for apple. The president is pretty good at this stuff. I'll wait for more concrete news to break regarding the details on this before reacting. but from what I have seen so far, including with the UK. Trump is doing great things with these trade deals. We wanted fair balance. And so far, we are getting it and then some. Looking forward to see how India responds.
    As addressed in the article, on April 1, Apple was paying 3%. 8 x 3 = 24.

From the article: "This will be a considerable increase on the current 10% import tariff applied against the country as of the latest exceptions pending a trade deal. That 10% tariff is also high compared to the 3% tariff Apple paid on iPhone imports from India to the U.S. before President Donald Trump began making tariff changes."

As far as "concrete news" goes, the source is Trump and Bessent. They both said this.

It's possible, but there hasn't been any sign of this in global shipping. It's pretty easy to spot.

    May 15, 2025:

“I had a little problem with Tim Cook yesterday,” Trump said. “I said to him, ‘my friend, I treated you very good. You’re coming here with $500 billion, but now I hear you’re building all over India.’ I don’t want you building in India.”

“I said to Tim, I said, ‘Tim look, we treated you really good, we put up with all the plants that you build in China for years, now you got build us. We’re not interested in you building in India, India can take care of themselves ... we want you to build here,’” Trump said.

Tim Cook literally said Apple was taking almost a billion-dollar hit from the tariffs in this, its slowest quarter of the year.

If you don't see the writing on the wall, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Simple idea, don't buy any new Apple gear in 2025 or 2026 and Apple might have to reconsider their pricing structure when sales tank.

There is no evidence to support either of those statements.
The EU begs to disagree with you.

We have confirmed that the 25% tariffs are in place right now.

Wonder where all the tariff money being collected goes?

Fund the tax breaks for the rich?
Build a 200 million dollar ball room at the White House?
Spend a Billion dollars to make the "gift" 747 a functional Air Force 1 that Trump gets to keep and fly over to Russia for them to inspect our secure electronics?
    Fund ICE?
Fund the military to control US citizens? (Needs lot of tanks....)
