Nothing but pessimistic Trump bashing and liberal spin on our "education funding".
We spend PLENTY on education in America, but we spend it POORLY. We do not need MORE MONEY for education, we need to toss out all the bull dung and bologna and focus on SKILLS and BASICS instead of useless woke indoctrination. Too many high paid Administrators and fancy buildings, not enough going to teachers, allowing teachers to teach and maintaining DISCIPLINE and demanding SUCCESS out our public schools.
But how educated to you have to be to assemble an iPhone? I think the Robots will be taking over most of this in the not too distant future. Especially once we make it unattractive for communist dictatorships to force their multitudes into modern slave labor.
A lot of bashing Trump, but at least he is DOING something. The last 6+ Presidents did nothing, or made things worse. But, let's bash the guy trying to move the needle.

Bush II implemented "No Child Left Behind" which turned education into "teaching for the test" rather than teaching for knowledge. Not only do we spend it poorly because of that, every administration for the last 30 years has cut funding to education. You're right about the last 6+ presidents doing nothing, but that includes Trump's first run.
As to what education is needed, what Apple says and has said about it is included in the text.
This isn't doing anything. This is worse than doing nothing. Trump is costing US business money in the form of tariffs that the businesses are paying, not the exporting country like the administration claims. Apple will dole out $2 billion in the previous quarter combined with the current one. The holiday quarter alone will probably be another $1.6 billion on its own. The needle is moving. It's not moving in favor of US business.
I don't know what else you need to see to be convinced that this is bad for US business.
And if robots will be taking over most of this, so much for this administration's promises of jobs because of it. Maintenance of those robots will require MORE education, not less.
I'm a fiscal conservative. I am not a MAGA Republican, though. My lack of fealty to Trump makes me able to see what's happened at the helm of the country since the mid-eighties, without Trump's and Biden's filters ad spins. So, get lost with "liberal spin," it isn't here no matter what you want to see since I don't agree with you in lockstep. And it makes me able to see that the tariff thing is going to hammer the middle class to pay for the 5% bracket and their tax cuts.
You are welcome to disagree, of course, based on your own politics. I agree with you in that we have a problem in this country, and it has been every president for about the last three decades in one way, shape, or form.

Define woke, please. If you can’t define it in clear language, we know your argument is a bunch angry nonsense.
The economy was better under the previous administration by every metric. It was already firing on all cylinders. Now it’s taking hits because of the insane uncertainty and shifting sands every single week.
and the Big Beautiful Bill in 2025 actively made the situation worse, from an education funding standpoint.
False. OBBBA is encouraging school choice, which is sorely needed in the US.
The US spends more per student than every other country except tiny Luxembourg. Spending is not the problem. We waste a lot propping up failing schools and coddling teachers’ unions rather than addressing student needs. The first Trump Administration at least broke the oligopoly of the “regional” accreditation system (now any accreditation agency can accredit any school nationwide). It was a good step, but more needs to be done. The student loan cap is another good step, but it will take a decade or more to have a real impact. Until now universities have had no incentive to reduce costs because they don’t bear any risk of loss on student loans. So the more we made student loans easy to get, the more universities raised their tuitions.

Trump broke the monopoly of “regional” accreditation his first term. Now schools nationwide can seek accreditation from any of the recognized firms. The student loan cap in OBBBA is another step in the right direction. Universities have had no incentives to make tuition affordable since they don’t bear any risk of loss on student loans.
Funding is not the problem with education in the US.

Biden was a moron. The economy was sputtering and inflation hit 9.1% under his “leadership”. His plan to tax the poor to give to the rich (student loans “forgiveness”) fortunately crashed and burned, despite his best efforts to ignore the Supreme Court.
I have seen the statement about China’s “skilled labor” several times but no one describes exactly what that means and is it only in regards to labor for Apple devices, or are these skills different.
Also, I’d like to know more about Apple’s “Training Academy”. If you already written about it, please point me to it!
What are these mystery skills that Americans are unable to acquire. Is it the tediousness of small parts assembly that makes it unattractive? How much is automated??
An entire city worth of employees work at a factory where they work 12-14 hour days for three months at a time while living in factory housing away from their family. Not exactly something we're going to reproduce in the US. And no, automation isn't the solution, not in the short term.
Wes, you are exactly on target. If you are curious you will want to look at t5he Lowell experiment in the 19th century in Mass.
or perhaps the Pullman era in Chicago.
In the words of Rocky. Squirrel, "that trick never works"
It seems we tend to glaze over the fact that China's government, and communist regimes in general, are oppressive. I think it's a mistake to believe that those workers live under those conditions because they particularly want to. Communists tell their workers where they will work and what the conditions will be. I'd say that China's status as a world power is founded on shaky foundations and Trump is standing up to them, doing what he can to call their bluff. That trick doesn't work on Chinese working class people either. American workers should be protected from having to compete against workers whose government oppresses them. The "fair price" of an iPhone should reflect the cost of ethical and dignified treatment of workers. As Americans, we've gotten used to fancy gadgets at cheap prices on the backs of Chinese workers.
Apple's AI server farm is going to be located Austin, TX as well with all AI server hardware made there. Yes this from the first announcement, but get your facts straight.
Also, incidentally Apple's Mac Pros are made here in Austin. The notion that Apple is not manufacturing here is incorrect. Maybe it's not at at the scale people like, yet, but it's something.
Given what is happening in Texas they may need to change if Apple wants to maintain brand image globally.
Putting a high energy demand in such a fanatically carbon burning power area that also politically is epicentre of erosion of human rights in America will eventually create mistrust.

I think this is in reference to the engineers capable of turning plans into consumer goods, and turning at a moment's notice adapting the design to a new reality.
That's one side of coin - the other is the tedious manual assembly of the device(s) by unskilled labor - which Americans don't want to do at all.
Trump's so into saving those jobs, but no citizen wants to do them.
Assembly line automaton work, picking and planting crops, construction work on hot roofs under the Florida sun - these are things Republicans crow about losing to foreign workers that no one born in this country wants to do.
Trump is unbelievable - you might as well have a bribe box on one side of the oval office. I remember a time when you didn't have to go and butter up a chief executive to get left alone to do business in America.

Unfortunately a lot of what Trump is doing is chasing industry out of America.
If you are at all involved in the global supply chain, these tariffs are increased te cost of your goods - why do you think so many of our manufacturers are now moving to Canada? I'm not sure we're going to have any vehicle manufacturers or heavy inducstry left in this country when Trump is done with his tariffs.
If that's the case, y'all are all going to have to go to working planting and picking crops because all the farm worker's will have been deported and the good jobs have fled the country to avoid the tariffs.
Something that the stupid MAGAites still haven't figured out is that tariffs are taxes paid by American citizens to the government, increasing the price of consumer goods. These are not taxes paid by foreigners - they're paid by you and me, and they're generally going towards reducing the taxes of the top 0.1% of American earners.
It's healthy as a society to maintain the dignity of all work. This demeaning attitude toward blue collar work was not nearly as common when I was young as it is now. That nonsense has been fostered over the years, I think intentionally as a way of justifying the hardships put on the working class as majority of good paying skilled jobs were moved out of the country. Working class people are still the backbone of this country. Young hard working men and women should be encouraged. They are important to this country and that is the truth.

T. Cook: “Yes, it says ‘Made in China.’ But once the next shipment arrives, it’ll read, ‘Made in MAGA’ — same factory, different slogan.”
