Maybe instead of a 16th function key, they could've put a power button on the thing.

I didn't say they were MY pics... Some Euro dude.

You sort of do have a power button already - try pressing control-eject.

the only other ways was to use the mouse (ugh...) or press and hold the power button...

Doesn't work on my iBook. Of course, my iBook still has a power button. I still don't understand why the fvck Apple dropped the power button from its keyboards. What the hell were they thinking?

There are two (other) things I don't like about the new keyboard. First, I can't stand the fact that it is not adjustable. I was under the impression that flat (i.e. not angled upwards) keyboards are recognized as more ergonomic theses days. Second, the two "grooves" between the letters, arrows and number pad sections are bound to become crud-collectors. Why on earth didn't Apple fill them with white plastic, like the area above the arrow keys?

Duh. Now it works. Thank you, Paul! Now I'm ready for a keyboard without power button. Still makes no sense that Apple dropped power buttons on keyboards...

You've got to host the picture somewhere (like an iDisk), thenyou get the picture into your post as follows:

Not supported officially by the USB bus, as I recall.

3rd party USB keyboard that have this really shouldn't. Yes, the old iMac USB keyboards had this, but I'm fairly sure I read some places that it was considered a hack.

Edit: okay, here's one quote from macally:

Q: Why won't my computer start up with the power button on the iKey?

First of all, many new USB-based Mac system do not support boot up from the keyboard function any more; therefore you do not find power button in original Apple keyboard. In this case, power button on all Macally keyboard will not work.
