in terms of iSuck etal... would it still download a pristine file if there isn't enough bandwidth? it would just take longer, right?

    Interesting question.

Yeah the music industry is getting out of hand. I can't think of any other industry offhand causing this much legislation for limiting personal freedom. You'd think Republicans would be up in arms about this. Oh well we all know Bu$h isn't a real Republican, he doesn't stand for anything except whoring himself to the highest bidder. Not that I'm a Republican but the things the RIAA MPAA are doing are going a bit far. CDs prices are price fixed and that is illegal. CDs don't cost $18.00. And since artists never see that money anyway... It's amazing what a small group of people can do if they have enough money. I don't know what they think they'll accomplish by bullying Apple. They'll never never be able to stop the open source community with decentralized P2P like Gnutella. And I just read up on Bit Torrent, that looks so sweet. MLDonkey accesses both I can't wait to check it out back in college this Fall, and yes it is for legal purposes like downloading something Slashdotted! (that means something is so popular after mention on this particular site that the server is overloaded, and Bit Torrent helps distribution of things from the Doom 3 trailer to regular software, and you can even download from multiple sources at the same time!)

Apple singlehandledy restoring personal freedom. Has a kind of swashbuckling maverick sound to it! Reminds me of their corporate theme songs like Ripples which I found on an amusing page about company anthems:
