If you have trouble finding Verbatims sold in spindles, you're not looking hard enough. And even if the problem Memorex CD-Rs are found in lots and not in every individual disc, that's inconsequential. They are still on the whole less reliable.

There are also hardcore CD burning websites that review both CD burners and media, and most of them don't like the Memorex media...They talk about C1, C2 errors and stuff like that. Often times it's the combination of picky CD-RW drives and particular media that cause the most problems.

So which would be the better buy this week? 100 pack of Imation for $9.99 after rebates or 50 pack of TDK for $2.99 after rebates?

    VERBATIM.

I posed a different question. There was no 'option 3'. But of course you knew that and just wanted to be a rebel.

    Imation is better than TDK.

How is it possible that you cannot get Verbatim? Are you even trying to find Verbatim?

It's hit or miss. The TDKs manufactured in-house are fine, but they sometimes outsource to Ritek. Ritek discs aren't reliable.

Imations are usually Taiyo Yudens, but they can also be the notoriously bad CMC made discs.

Whatever. I got the TDKs. I couldn't find any Verbatim except for the Vinyl ones at Best Buy. I'm not buying though. I want to be able to 'label' my CD-Rs. They had Verbatim everything else though ... Verbatim DVD-R spindles, DVD-RW spindles, CD-RW spindles. Everything buy CD-R spindles that WEREN'T Vinyl. And the Vinyl ones didn't even have a spindle. Just the package with CD cases. Oh well. I'm not backing up 'mission critical' data or anything. Just some fansubs of anime series that I'll eventually buy on DVD when they are released. So $2.99 after rebates is a good price.

Anyone know if Verbatim is still available? I've been using Sony lately cause I couldn't find Verbatims.
