Internet Exploder is already a non-factor in the Mac browser world anyway. Other than things like iCab it's at the bottom of the heap; you can't even argue it's the best browser any longer, and that's going up against beta stock like Safari, Camino and very young apps like Mozilla.
The lack of future IE development for Mac is pretty much meaningless. I say good riddance! One less browser I have to develop the occasional site for.
You can say good riddance to Internet Explorer, but do you really know that Safari/Camino/iCab can handle all of the same tasks that Internet Explorer can?
For example, I spend at least 50% of every day working on internal business administration tools that require IIS-authentication. The only browser that can handle this is Internet Explorer, and I assume this is something Safari will never be able to handle without some 'help' from Microsoft.
I also hate using Internet Explorer, but you can't make the general assumption that this is a good thing. I don't see how Apple can get very far in the business world without having Internet Explorer at least as an option for users.
If Microsoft would continue development, it would be even better. Remember, competition in this space is always a good thing.

No, It can't. Open these URLs and tell me how they look in Safari?

btw, anyone know when safari's going to be able to authenticate through a proxy? i'd use it, but it's worthless to me right now...

I'm yet to find a Java based Car Configurator that works in Safari. There are 100s of pages Safari can't handle. Unfortunately, IE is essential for me
