A slap on the face to the person who said that mercedes benz cars cost 10000 more than a BMW
Really, it isn't steeply priced at all when commpared to BMW
You have to compare cars in the same niche. You can't compare the S class with say, a BMW 3 series. Compare the S Class with the 7 series for example, and you'll find that in most ways you're actually paying for less on the Mercedes benz.
The same goes for the C class when compared with the 3 seires.
And the E class when compared with the 5 series.
Guys, really, I understand that most of you are based in the US, but really.
I've visited the Mercedes Benz headquarters in Stuttgart as well as the BMW one in Munich. I've been into cars since I was a kid. We own a C class mercedes benz (we actually was deciding between that and the 3 series) and settled for mercedes benz. At the time it was only around 1000 dollars more than the BMW for almost the exact specs.

So think before you give a figure like 10000, ok?
I was comparing the 7 series with the S-Class, So maybe not $10000, but you can get it that high and much higher, the options are always really expensive on mercedes cars and i saw lots of options on the mercedes that were standard on the 7. Well anyway its not like i don't like mercedes. I would think i like mercedes a little more than bmw actually
While I do realise the idiocy of us arguing which car is best compared to macs, I think it's fun.
So there! Steve Jobs himself drives a Mercedes Benz!
Man! If he really does drive the SL then I'd be so impressed. Those cars are so incredible.
how did you know what car he drives?
Well, you know the story about how steve jobs ordered boxes and boxes of Pilot pens and threw out the biros when he came back to apple? He did so because those Pilot pens were "The Best".
Now, having said that, Mercedes-Benz motors are very different but still great in a very different way. I experienced this myself. It isn't as sportive, but the feel is very nice.
Now Ford just plain sux (sorry to you americans, but objectively speaking, it does)
And it sux that jaguar has been bought.
And yes, the latest designs (actually all, in my opinion) by BMW are quite dissapointing. Mercedes-Benz is the true innovator in looks. They brought the turning lights oplaced on the side mirrors, they were the ones to first abolish the ugly black bumper stripes, etc. etc.
So basically it all sux, except for Mercedes Benz.8)
I like the new look of the 7 series and the Z4 I dont know about the new 5 series though, maybe i will learn to like it, i here Bangle (Guy who designs them) is going to step down and leave to company since everyone is making fun of him. BMW said they like him because he makes their cars look "different." You should see the designs of what he wants the cars to look like before BMW fixes them up SCARY!

For the ford part i don't know, i am not interested by these kind of car nor i am interested by Opel, fiat , renault (excepted the espace).
For the rest i agree, Mercedes rock, it worth the large amount of money you have to spend.
BTW audi is nice too, the new audi A4 of my father looks nice, and fun to drive, even if my coupe 406 is better to drive.
The design of that navigation system is spiffy but I learn it runs on microsoft.
I got quite a shock when I first saw it, especially the back, but somehow I've learned to like it.
What I like most about mercedes benz is that they always retain the most classical foundations and builds on top of them, so it doesn't look too shocking (like certain BMW) yet always pleasing to the eye. Because it retains classical features, it never really goes out of style. Just look at the old SL series. I still think it looks kinda cool.
Saabs give you more for your money, for performance and kit figures.... (But no AMG or M rivals yet)
As for the designs of the Mercedes Benz cars, they look apalling. The S Class looks decidedly cheap in its flagship colour, as does any MB. The head lamps on the S class look as if someone has had their skin pulled the skin above their eyes too tight after cosmetic surgery. The BMW Z4 looks good, however the divided back on the 7 series, and now the lights on ther 5 series have discredited BMWs image. Flame all you want, but if you can't see it... Well, damn. \
As for looks, Audi makes the more attractive cars, along with Saabs new 9-3.
"I just can't find a car matching BMW in terms of handling and overall driving experience"
Blah - that just means you have not driven enough cars! How about Phaeton W12, Audi S6 or Brabus Mercedes?
Any thread comparing Macs to an automotive product will automatically go down the toilet because 1) it's an apples and oranges comparison, no pun intneded, amd 2) for an analogous comparison, you need to find a good automative brand/line that is 2% of the market!
(Note that I said a Mac. Other Apple products, like iPod, would be a just comparison.)
eh ford is not all that bad, they are by far the biggest automotive manufacturer, the F150 sold anything camry's x3... and they work great, my grandpa has had is f150 for like 15 years? anyway its at 350,000 miles now I think... my poor nissan pickup is at 225,000 and I'm barely getting by.

The last motor of Apple where quite disapointing ...

God bless Apple Computer.
Forever in your debt,
