Go for the 12 inch powerbook man. I think that they are pretty cool and besides you already have a decent desktop.

No shpping date as yet for mine either, I posted earlier an email from Apple apologising for the delay. Is there a way on the AppleStore UK to find estimated dates of arrival as their is no indication of dates on the "Check Order Status Page"

Just get the PB12" and have confidence. I got mine just a month ago and love it. With my student discount it was only a $250 difference between the 12" ibook (cdrw) and the 12"pb. The only complaint I have is the ram issue. I design web pages with the adobe web collection I really miss that extra 360mb of ram you get with the 15" and 17" models.

Other than the ram issue I'm very happy with the 12". I needed a portable to work on my web sites while away from home. At home I've got quicksilver dual 1ghz with 1.5 gig ram. I consiered the ibook as well but I was afraid the g3 would choke when trying to run adobe apps.

Hopefully in the not to distant future 1 gig memory sticks will be available for a reasonable price, that are compatible with the 12"

Anyone looking to by a 12", do yourself a favor and just wait another week or two. You'll thank yourself then.

Mine shipped too! Straight out of Taiwan. Since I'm getting my normal 12" Powerbook, I bet that guarantees new ones will come out next week and I'll be screwed!

I don't care though. I'm going through Mac withdrawal since I sold my PowerMac last week (my eBay auction ended on the Sunday before WWDC), so I don't mind if everyone else gets a speed bump.

If you need it then get it. That is the reason why I went ahead and purchased mine a month ago (knowing full well they would probably be updated in the coming month or two). The bottom line is that I needed a portable and couldn't wait.

We all know it will just be speed bumps with some possible subtle changes from the rev a model, but nothing groundshaking. And if

groundshaking news comes, well then the ground will shake and I'll

be in more debt! ha ha.

Checked the status of my order today and it´s shipped as well! I won´t wish I was home though because I am typing this in an internet cafe in sunny Tenerife. The only thing now to wait on is the iPod I ordered for my dad and word form home that the package has actually arrived, rather than several companies telling me that it´s on the way
