Classical, Jeffersonian Liberals were on the side of individual rights, Capitalism and the United States of America. Modern Liberals are not.

They expect you to sit back quietly while they're taxing you to death. If you elect a party other than theirs into office in order to roll back taxes, they will go nuts.

    They are masters of intimidation.

Blood forbid that you should call the Sargent At Arms in the House of Representatives to maintain order and decorum when one of Their Kind physically threatens one of Your Kind while at the same time calling them a "...Fruitcake!". Your attempt to uphold the standards of conduct of the United States House of Representatives and to prevent an act of battery will cause you to be accused by them of trying to establish a police state and to trample their rights (a claim to a right to beat up whomsoever they please?). Seems to me that a political party from somewhere in history used ("We're victims!") tactics like that in order to gain power... some time in the late twenties/early thirties... somewhere between France (Ha! France!) and Poland....

One of the Liberal's Leaders, a broom-rider named Pelosi, may well be insane. I am lead to this conclusion only after listening to her speaking to the House of Representatives.

You said, ""liberal" in the U.S. had become a very, very dirty word,". This is because, I think, that more and more Americans are seeing that today's desperate-for-power Liberals are fighting very, very dirtily indeed.

    Cordially,

Wow. At least you didn't use the term "pinko commie" in your description of liberals, I really don't look good in pink.

Anyone who uses Ann Coulter as an "authority" on liberalism and then complains about extreme partisanship from the left is either a moron or has their head so far up their conservative *ss they can't see their own hypocracy! Ann Coulter is the one you turn to? Are you serious? The woman who said on public television, "I'm not sure if President Clinton should be impeached or assassinated." Anne Coulter, the GOP fem-bot who believes that all non-whites, non-Christians, non-Republicans should be rounded up and pushed out into the sea...oh wait, that's Hamas. Sorry.

This reminds me of 1992 when the GOP, so upset about the election of Bill Clinton, unanimously stated "he's not our president" and marched right into eight years destroying him...only to get him on lying about a blowjob! To me, you don't get anymore un-american than that.

Wow. The last twenty years pretty much proves you wrong. Reagan and Bush Sr. are the one's who turned "liberal" into a dirty word. The GOP dragged this country through the impeachment process (imagine what they would've done to Kennedy if he served today...oh, wait, they may have had something to do with that as well...we'll never know, will we). I supposed that the phrase "Your either with us or against us" is rooted in peace, negotiation and cooperation as well?

Wrong. Only the true masters of deception use "religion" or "ethnicity" to gain or regain power. Liberals today are considered secular by nature and therefore cannot use "the bible" or their superior skin color to justify their policies. Conservatives, however, are the exception to this rule. Since their moral capacity is apparently superior to "non believers" who simply need to be shown the way to political salvation and enlightenment, it is their creed that you will be assimilated or you will be destroyed. Ergo, if the shoe fits.

Exactly! It's so Eighties isn't it?

I don't remember who came up with this phrase, but I like it:

    Borrow-and-spend-Republicans.

    Borrow-and-spend-Republicans.

    Repeat after me...

    Borrow-and-spend-Republicans.

Well, one way to do it is cut some taxes so folks have $12 more a month to buy a car with, then pass on the cuts in federal spending to the local level so that lots of towns find themselves unable to pay for basic services like SCHOOLS and ROADS. In the meantime, you could expand the size of the federal government in ways unheard-of since FDR. THEN, you could wage a couple of wars that cost you, what, $4bn a month?

Oh wait. That's not working. Crap. Oh well. Ignore all that red ink in the accounting book, land on a few aircraft carriers, and show people how you're a "normal guy" and no one will notice that your economic policy isn't working.

    Cheers

During the mark up of Bill H.R. 1776, Stark (D) made demeaning remarks (profanity laced remarks) in a threatening tone (with threatening body language) (one Republican eyewitness claims that a physical threat was made) to McInnis (R). The committee chairman called the Sargent at Arms to restore order.

The Democrats who claim that the police were there to arrest them were apparently only asked to move to another room.

Now the Democrats are claiming that a great injury, a huge injustice has been done to them.

The Democrats out of power.... I am reminded of an alcoholic cut off from booze.

PS: C-SPAN had the debate on this incident on television tonight. Pelosi has declared war on the Republicans. She's talking about Republicans the way that the Klu Klux Klan used to speak about African Americans.

Well it looks like Bill Thomas, the very guy who called the police, even thinks what he did was stupid:
    Quote:

Capitol Hill-AP -- A tearful Congressman Bill Thomas has acknowledged he used "poor judgement" last week.

The powerful chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee told a somber House chamber that he shouldn't have called for the Capitol Police to help remove Democrats from a room where they were meeting. Thomas says his fellow lawmakers deserve better judgment and says that from now on "you'll get it."

Known for his often-abrasive style, Thomas choked up when he told colleagues that his mother would have said that "when they were passing out moderation, you were hiding behind the door.'" Thomas also agreed with a columnist who had described his action as "just plain stupid."

The police were called before any remarks by the lone Democratic congressman were made.
