i thought the next rev.G3 (gobi) has a 200Mhz fsb.
can't find anything about the fsb of the 7457 exept i dont expect it to be 333Mhz...</strong><hr></blockquote>
200Mhz bus for the 7457 ... but there will also be versions with 167Mhz. i saw a pdf from mot with speeds up to 1.8Ghz and 167 and 200mhz busses. the same for the 7455 which is available with 133 and 167 mhz bus speed...
Sorry to burst the speculative bubble here, but I just checked with Moto, and here is the reason behind the 7455 status code '5' on the website:
[quote] Good example of how rumors get started! The reason these part nums appear to be dying or going EOL is that they are the old "XC" numbers, and this part has just gone full "MC." Plus it's now at the so-called "A" rev, and that changes the part number a bit too. The problem here is that the web site guys didn't update this completely! <hr></blockquote>
I wish it were otherwise too. But I guess the 'A' Rev is good to know, too.

well, this still doesn't explain the fact that those who lately purchased 867mhz machines lately actually have the 1ghz chip.. motorola are not seemingly producing/or Apple is no longer buying 867's..
so, what will ship in my 12"PB? got an idea, anyone?
I read that the 7457 is a plug-in replacement for the 7455, so Apple could incorporate these chips with minimum fuss. If Motorola is indeed shipping them, I don't think we'll have to wait until April. The inventory back-ups do sound like something big is coming fairly soon. Good catch guys!

Doesn't change the chance that the 7457 will be available shortly. Do chips reach full maturity when new replacement chips are coming available?
january-april 2003:
imac/emac: PPC7455
powerbook: PPC7455 (no real DDR-support)
powermac: PPC7457 (no real DDR-support)
juli-october 2003
imac/emac: PPC7455 (no real DDR-support)
powerbook: PPC7457 (no real DDR-support)
powermac: PPC7457 (no real DDR-support)
or
powermac: PPC7457-RM
or
powermac: PPC970
everything slows down a little bit more than expected.
that's why mr. jobs called 2003 "year of the portable"
i guess

Thank goodness this isn't Ancient Greece or we'd have to kill you for bringing such bad news.
