Having read the quote it seems that it?s possible I could be wrong and Robertson wasn?t asking us to pray for the deaths of these poor judges.

That?s irrelevant, anyway. The really offensive thing here is the assumption that God is a) political and b) a conservative who might be swayed to ?put it into the minds? of the liberal judges to take early retirement. As if ?liberal? politics might be contrary to the word of God.

That?s offensive. The idea that the Supreme Being might be more likely to listen to American conservatives because they?re more likely to share His beliefs.

How on EARTH do you know? And who the HELL is he to say?

So how does this work? Is the point that the Lord is more likely to act according to the sheer volume of people praying? Sort of like a petition? Or does He act only in the interest of justice alone? Was God listening when Desmond Tutu led thousands in prayer to end Apartheid in the stadiums in the townships, for example? Is he more likely to listen to Tutu, a socialist, or Robertson, a conservative?

Isn?t up to Him to decide what?s right and what ?justice? is?

Does God get pissed off when Robertson runs a nakedly political campaign claiming the highest possible moral authority? Won?t God think this a little arrogant? Will he send Robertson to Hell for it? Or was it the destiny of the Church founded by the Disciples of Jesus of Nazareth to be co-opted by right-wing Americans all along? Are South African Christians, who are still uniformly socialist, all completely misguided, like those left-wing priests in the slums of Brazil?

    Quote:

Larry Flynt is a blowhard and a scumbag. So is Pat Robertson.

And so is Bill O'Reilly. He lied about his Peabody "awards" and then squealed like a skewered pig when he was exposed on Cspan by Al Franken in one of a most refreshingly delicious 15 minutes of television.

Then on March 18, just before the war on Iraq started, the hero of the right went on to pronounce on Fox News, "Good Morning America":

    Quote:

"If the Americans go in and overthrow Saddam.and (Iraq) is clean, he has no weapons of mass destruction, then I will apologize to the nation and I will never trust the Bush Administration again"

Mr. O'Reilly, do you still trust those lying scumbags and traitors in the White House???

Hassan: I'm offended that Pat Robertson would think God political.

God: Hassan, you know you don't believe in me anyhow. So why the mock outrage.

Hassan: Look figment of my imagination, how could you possible act on Demond Tutu, and Pat Robertson when they are on total opposite ends of the political spectrum.

God: I don't care about man-made labels. I care about who believes in, beseeches, and calls upon me since I happen to be all powerful.

Hassan: Don't you get pissed when Pat called upon you for nakedly political purposes?

God: If it follows my beliefs, then who cares about the politics.

Hassan: Look if I don't believe in you, will I really go to hell? I'm a pretty good guy.

God: Been feeling a little warm in England there Hassan? You're already getting ready for the ride.
