1. Any collegiate athlete who excels at their sport and at the same time manages to earn high marks in their criminology, basket-weaving and home economics courses.
2. In American mythology, a wholesome young man or woman who is extremely attractive, works hard, plays hard, gives to charity, never gets angry, pays their taxes early and has a balanced, fiber-rich diet.
it must be nice to live in your own little world over there ... as for what you do not know. discremination is everywhere, ask my great grandpa who moved to texas from scotland, to a place where people can take out a loan, didn't have to have land to be anywhere in the social system, and be able to feed his familiy heh.
also what continent did the most horrendous atrocities against humanity originate? many times over I might ask? Oh and for that matter commercial slavery as well? east of new york if I'm not mistaken far east of new york.
Look, I never intended for this to become a "my continent's better than your continent yah-boo-sucks!" debate. It's pointless.... because we all Europe would win (kidding!)
However.... let's not get like a fly in aspic. The kind of problems encountered by your great grandpa in the 19th Century were common to many of the poor, including The Blue Meanie's thoroughly working class (and 50 per cent Scottish) ancestors. However it may shock you to learn that is no longer the 19th Century in Scotland.
And as for your comments about slavery - well, I could retaliate by noting that the wealth of the USA was built on slavery; that (at least some of) the authors of the Declaration of Independence were slave-keepers ("all men are created equal" - but some are created more equal than others); and that Britain abolished slavery decades before the US - and without a bloody civil war. But i won't, because that would be shooting ducks in a barrel
When I mean pop-culture, I mean everything written, directed, performed, produced, conceived by an American. Plus, he's completely enamored by underage British actresses and productions...the most recent example would be the new film adaptation of Peter Pan.
Of course, he claims 28 Days Later was better than anything any American studio ever put out, and Coldplay and Radiohead are the best bands ever.
Comments
Maybe I should apply for a job at Webster's.
