Well, the G5 has made it to Canada! I picked up a 1.8 GHz machine this afternoon from the McGill Computer Store, which I'm typing away on right now.

Of course, I had to take the requisite unpacking pics, which I'll post as soon as I figure out how to setup my Sympatico webspace. It might take a while, but they should be up by tonight at the latest. Though are there any other specific pics people want?

Completely hillarious! I worked at a PC butcher shop awhile back, so I can attest that the A5 is the PC norm.

That thing looks sublime. And it dwarfs that 15" LCD (which looks perfectly good-sized next to my little Cube!).

    Congratulations!

Well, it looks like the G5 is even bigger than you think; that's a 17'' Studio Display it's dwarfing in the picture!

While we're indulging in Apple hardware pr0n, here's a picture found by the indefatigable M. Isobe at Ars:

Can Apple design a board, or can Apple design a board?

Seeing the CPU-card, I have a question for all the proud G5 owners: Are the connectors for the second CPU on the board or are those spaces unused?

I have to say...those photos make me feel tingly and a bit naughty. Is that wrong? I don't know, I'm asking.

Can't wait to see the portable version of this thing someday...

There's no extra LIF slot on the MLB for an extra CPU daughtercard.

Oooh, you use that Konfabulator thing too! Isn't that the coolest?

You know what, I'd love someone (perhaps this guy above with the G5 pics on his site) to do photos like that of ALL Apple's gear!

I've long wished for (among other things) Apple to design and sell a calendar in their retail and online stores. Their stuff is so gorgeous to look at (more than proven by the photos above) that I'd love to have a calendar hanging on my wall at home AND work with a different product(s) to look at every month.

Beats puppies and old locomotives and the other usual calendar subjects I see at Barnes & Noble.

Fender puts out one every year of their coolest, nicest guitar custom shop creations, so it's not like it's a far-out, unheard of thing.

AND it would serve as a nice little advertising/marketing tool (think how many comments and conversations it would spark in your cubicle when people see it).

    Can I get an "amen"?

(BTW, I can't WAIT to hear the various reasons why this couldn't/shouldn't be done... ) "ooh, no...it's too cheesy...people might learn about Apple and that would be bad..." and "it dilutes the appeal and impact...Apple should never do anything different than what they're doing now...it's perfect!"
