Now this about the best frontman, not necessarily best vocalist.

My list begins with Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Axl Rose, Kurt Cobain, Roger Daltry, Jim Morrison.... and the list goes on...

    In Order:

Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion & Pussy Galore)

    Black Francis (Pixies)

    Jarvis Cocker (Pulp)

    Jim Morrison

I can't think of any others right now. I'm listening to Pussy Galore right now so it's hard to think straight.

Ha, ha. GOOD choices. But you can scratch that c*nt Courtney off the list and replace her with Siouxsie from Siouxsie & the Banshees...!

Best front man? Iggy Pop. 'nuff said.

Mick Jagger not only invented, but perfected the art form. Honorable mentions go to Deborah Harry, Iggy and Jim Morrisson.

Sammy Hagar, and that guy who stood in for Motley Crew for an album way back.

    HAHAHA!!!

That's got to violate some unwritten rule of rock somewhere. When the frontman leaves/dies, it's time to move on to a new project. Drummers? That's another story.

    The answer's George Clinton.

John Corabi from the Scream. And it's Crue. duh...

My list would be something like; Axl Rose, Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Henry Rollins, and how come nobody mentioned Jon Bon Jovi?

I think I'll have to throw in Maynard.

Another one I'll have to throw in, despite the controversy I know it will start, Fred Durst. I know the music is overblown angst crap, but Durst does do a fine job as frontman, sure he is an a--hole.

Well, if you are talking about pure quality of voice and presence, I'd have to say Sam Cooke...but I am not sure that he fits the category. You can hear it somewhat in his ordinary pop vocals, but you really really have to listen to "Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963" or to his work with the Soul Stirrers (especally, again, the amazing live tracks with the Soul Stirrers) to understand. Wow. Makes me weak in the knee.

    JON SPENCER right on!

    David Lee Roth

    Sun Ra

    Gibby (butthole surfers -circa '87)

    Jimmy Hendrix

    P J Harvey

Henry Rollins deserves mention but Im not sure its for being any good . . maybe just for being very very

Gotta absolutely laugh about the vote for Jim Morrison . . . Ive seen films of his live concerts and they were either a complete shambles with him moaning and stalking around, or they were unbelievably boring with him just kinda standing there and moaning

and just to say again Clapton sucks . . .
