Right. It's clever to include numbers from 1Q00, but look at the 2003 numbers alone, and Apple's share is increasing, total numbers shipped are increasing, all while total units of all manufacturers is dropping. Dell and Apple have been the only profitable manufacturers this year, yes?
Even if you say Apple is treading water this year, it isn't sinking like every other manufacturer save one. Couple that with everyone and their brother waiting for a new powerbook this quarter (which I suspect, but of course don't know, is going to cause a hit in units sold this quarter). I'm not saying Apple is in danger of becoming a 20% market, but it is likely to regain its 5-10 percent share at some point.
If you are a reasonable person, and not a troll, as you maintain, quit acting like one and supply a response when faced with a reasoned reply.
The real world where Apple has dwindling marketshare and revenues.
Given the mobile market is becoming increasingly important in terms of accounting for total unit sales and it's an area that Apple has 7% market share I'd say they actually stand a better chance of seeing an increase.
Were there any other rumors floating about regarding Apple using other processors besides x86 in case the powerPC suddenly became unavailable? I haven't paid attention to this in a long time. What is available besides x86 and PPC? Sun's chip?
I know there are a number of lower power embedded 8/16/32 bit processors but I'm not aware of anything that could fill in for a G4.
I don't give a sh!t what Apple's market share is, as long as they're profitable and making good quality equipment. I'll keep buying.
A didn't want to go to far off topic in this thread, so I put a response to the above in the General Discussion forum under the topic "Why Mac Market Share Matters."

A while ago Soup on MacEdition posted an interesting article on that topic. Worth a read, if only to see what other alternatives Apple could have aside from x86 if they were to dump PPC.

If you can.
