Lets keep this thing rolling; I?m planning a 24h movie marathon in two weeks, over at my buddy?s house. I feel queer starting a new topic. So any suggestions on how I can fill the 24h gap?
I got my rental history from Netflix. Here's everything I've rented. I'll bold the one's I recommend BUT I'll skip the ones I think we all know about. There were a hand full that I thought this groups would like so I put them in italics too.

The Thief, is a great movie, quelle est ta problème lÃ*. I donÂ?t see how that movie is depressing, and I cant believe that you would pick Â?The PenisÂ? over Â?The ThiefÂ?.
I do realize that my post makes no sense, but its there, and i wont back down.
WHAT? Do you remember the end? Something like "There is nothing ... nothing".
His mother is dead, he has no father and he kills the only man he ever bonded to because he indirectly caused his mother's death. I think it's a great movie, maybe I should have bolded it, but it was just sooo ughhhhhh depressing.

Alex Cox. He's a director. Get REPO MAN. It's brilliant. Better than anything I've seen in the past five years, if not more.
If you liked Adaptation, you should probably see Being John Malkovich which was also directed by Spike Jonze and scripted by Charlie Kaufman.
I thought Insomnia was good, but the original version is even better and is well worth checking out. There are enough differences in the tone of the two films (the Norwegian one is even colder and more disorienting) for it to hold some new appeal.
Oh yeah, I also meant to recommend Jean de Florette and its sequal, Manon des Sources earlier. The first has one of Gerard Depardieu's best performances ever (no, really...he makes great films when he's not working in English) and the two films comprise an epic story of greed, betrayal and revenge.
I recently rewatched an 80's movie called "After Hours" that's not only funny, but shows a New York that no longer exists. Some really good stuff mentioned already like "The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys" and "Pumpkin". One director I don't think anyone's mentioned yet is Cronenberg. Could definitely do at least a couple of his movies. Oh and one of my favorite movies of all time..."Dorothy Parker and The Vicios Circle"
One director I don't think anyone's mentioned yet is Cronenberg.
Dead Ringers is probably my favorite of his, although his casting of Peter Weller as Bill Lee in Naked Lunch was pure genius. Boxing Helena is worth watching...not genius, but intriguing. I personally loved Jodorowsky's El Topo and Santa Sangre, but your own milage may vary.

Also we just returned....
The Pianist
Star Trek: Nemesis
Animatirx
After The Pianist NO MORE holocaust movies. They're too depressing and we're seen plenty since Schindler's List.
I do realize that my post makes no sense, but its there, and i wont back down.

My wife's one into the French movies. I could take them or leave them. Mostly leave them.
and
Clockwork Orange...great stuff
- The Wild One - Brando biker movie
- Danger Diabolic - Italian secret agent 60's kitch movie
- Faster Pussy Cat, Kill! Kill! - Russ Meyer...need I say more?
- Beyond the Valley of the Dolls - Russ Meyer & Roger Ebert!
- Wing Chun - Michelle Yeoh wire work kung fu flick, lotsa fun.
- The Hunger - If you can get through this Bowie/vampire flick...
- ...then try The Man Who Fell to Earth.
- Rock & Roll High School - Roger Corman, Ramones, sex and drugs!
Some honorable mentions...
- Year of the Dragon - Mickie Rourke RULES.
- Lolita - Stanley Kubrick's version. All others suck.
- Rushmore - Bill Murry RULES (Jason Schwartzman ain't bad either).
- Ghost Dog - Gangsta, Hitman, Mafia and Samurai movie? Yes.
- Miami Blues - Early fantastic Alec Baldwin flick. Cool.
I could go on but that's what this is for...
my other sayles faves:
matewan
lone star
passion fish
the sunshine state
(pelican trilogy)
return of the seacacus seven
brother from another planet
i'd of linked to the imbd pages but linkys aren't working for me for some reason.
(Sean Connery and Michael Caine in a Kipling epic)
one of my all time favourites.
Touch of Evil
(Charleton Heston stars, Orson Welles directs)
The Transporter - or - Ronin.
Killer car chases.
if you're in the mood for trippy visuals,
consider the Qatsi trilogy... Koyaanisqatsi - Powaqqatsi - Naqoyqatsi (the last just out on DVD)
time-lapse reality set to Philip Glass/YoYoMa soundtrack.
Waking Life
rotoscoped computer animation over video by multiple directors. interesting.
(and if you're into the "one concept seen through many director's views" thing... The Animatrix)
Blazing Saddles!
no list of great films is complete without some classic Mel Brooks comedy
The General (Buster Keaton)
Modern Times - or - The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin)
Put that one at the top of your list.
