It least it seems to fix the display problems after wake from sleeep I had when connecting via DVI.
Until now, I only could connect by VGA, because after wake from sleep, I got some disturbing screen artifacts. Now, I finally can use the VGA input of my monitor as second screen for my notebook.
Stay the hell away from 10.2.8, either version, everyone, it is NOT faster or better at anything except maybe the BT menu extra. This is pathetic, they must really be going full speed on Panther because this extra version of .2.8 didn't fix jack shit for me, I want audio that doesn't SKIP all the time. And my bandwidth seems to have turned to absolute crap.

I have had several strange problems with 10.2.8 as well.
I first installed the "original" 10.2.8 and the battery on my TiBook would drain in about 30-45 minutes. I installed the "new" 10.2.8 and it hasn't improved. In fact, as a test, I charged it up fully, unplugged it and put it to sleep. I let it sit overnight and now, it is almost completely drained. I used to leave it asleep for days if I was gone. I don't even know if it would make it 24 hours now asleep...
Since installing, I've had bluetooth issues on my other machine.
It turns out that the cause of my lock-ups was not the 10.2.8 update, but rather a 512 MB ram module that I installed recently. I installed it roughly the same time I updated to 10.2.8 and thus assumed that the problems were caused by the update. After downgrading to 10.2.7, which had shipped with my PowerBook, I continued to lock up and freeze. After removing the new RAM and putting the 256 stick back, all problems have gone away; and I have been putting this thing through a gauntlet of tests, etc.
The most salient difference between 10.2.7 and 10.2.8 is battery life. I now get 3.5 hours easily.
2 people have confirmed that Wacom tablets are not recognized in 10.2.8.
1 person i know now has a greyed out modem in the network panel after 10.2.8.
FYI
MSKR
Masker,
To resolve this, I uninstalled then re-installed the Wacom USB tablet software and all is well. I have a G4 Sawtooth 450 and am using an original Graphire tablet.
FWIW: I've decided that I'm happy with 10.2.6, and that updating won't give me enough new features and bug fixes to make it worth the hassle. I'll be getting Panther soon enough anyways.

EDS66, is that 3.5 hours actual? What was your actual hours on 10.2.7...I'm expecting my 15" Al PB tomorrow...and would like to know....Thanks!
Also, what brand of memory did you add?...I'd like to avoid that sit if possible...
Installed the original 10.2.8 on a Rev. C, Grape iMac (266MHz). Everything was great. Then installed the new and improved 10.2.8 thinking everything would be okay okay. Not a chance!. No longer able to connect to my network. It appears that my router, an Asante FR3004FLC is not supplying it with an ip address. When I ping my router (ping 192.168.123.164) from the terminal the is no connection to the host. Help?
Edit: I'm an idiot. I should have known to check the simple things first, but jumped to conclusions and assumed that it was the update when the iMac quit connecting to the network. I was wrong! I'm embarrassed, but it was a lose cable.

I don't have the chip in front of me, but I got it from the dealer that sold me the Powerbook. The module is 512MB DDR333, CAS 2.5. These specs are identical to the RAM that shipped with the PowerBook.
I am thinking that these new laptops are very picky about RAM, as there are so many reports of DDR333 ram not working with them. I would give it a few weeks, until the manufacturers have tweaked the EPROM on their chips. Of course it could be that the modules themselves simply cannot handle DDR333 at CAS2.5, who knows.

Yes, it's 3.5 hours actual. Bluetooth and airport off. Screen at 1/3 brightness. Average but continuous load: browsing, typing.
I was getting right under 3 hours with 2.7. So I have gained 30 minutes.
