so what you mean is, "we're gullible and naive and will believe anything you tell us" ?

welcome to the Real World... information is presented at face value, and you are free to excercise your experience and intelligence and free will to believe, or not believe.

You're welcome to post whatever YOU want, and you can call it your opinion, or what you heard from a drunk Apple employee in the subway on the way to the movie theater, or whatever. I doubt that I will believe it, either way, and if I happen to believe it and it's wrong, I'll have no one to blame but myself.

I wish that those who tell the people who have the interesting rumors to go away would just go away themselves. What good is a rumors board with no rumors? If he is wrong we will know in a little while. Then you can rub it in if you so desire. Now, about that new enclosure on the TiBook...

[quote]Just be prepared to be ridiculed by smart-ass punks with nothing of their own to add

Funny. It seems to me that this is exactly what we have. Every idiot who comes up with a wild idea posts it here and claims that it "insider info" ar actually admits it's just a guess. Either way, what substance has really been added?

Macagent, I know that rampant speculation is what these forums are for, and I love discussing things that may be. However, when something is so blatantly wrong as the PowerBook info. posted here as "inside info," it becomes clear that there is nothing "inside" going on. Why lie? To be adored by people on this board who, like you, read his posts and then raise your hands and shout "Hallelujah!" and run to him with praise for bringing about his "information" and give him constant attention with the questions you ask...and all of a sudden he's big man on campus. And I don't think stroking Mastergating's ego is going to do anything except convince a bunch of newbies and gullables and those who have read some of his other, better-crafted posts, that he is a true insider. I don't believe that what he is doing is fair to the community. If he wants to discuss what he *thinks* is going to happen to the product line, that is great - I think a large part of what he says is grounded in a lot more reality than the majority of things said here (which isn't to say the rest isn't fun to read and think about) and I could probably have a great talk with him about it. But an insider he is not - what's the difference, you ask? The ego - the showmanship.

Perhaps you are entertained, but there are people in here waiting to get *real* dirt and I think the fact that he feeds on that is sick. Maybe you can convince AppleInsider to create a "Fan Fiction" forum for you where you can read posts like this and be amused with transcripts of keynote addresses that never happened and products that never will be. But I don't think anyone likes being played. We all want inside info., but if it's just giong to be so superficial that we'll accept even this then what's the point?

(to be clear, I have nothing against MacAgent - just a friendly debate, I quite enjoy reading his posts)

I always thought that Apple would update their unput devices to go along with their new machines. Apple ships the same keyboard and mouse with all their machines (excluding of course the portables and iPod). Now if the new iMac takes on the look of the iPod/iBook then the present keyboard and mouse will look like ancient leftovers from another era. Like when we used our ADB keyboards on the B&W. I think Apple would update their keyboard and mouse wo a lighter shade. And that means the new PowerMac case would get similar treatment.

Since 2-button & scrollwheel mice are recognized and functional in OS X, I believe Apple will bring out a new mouse. If not at MWSF, then soon. It's time for the single button mouse to die.

I do hope Mastergateing''s wrong about "no duallies", I'm ready for a new one.

Hmmmmmmm ... ya know, there's these crazy whacky inventions I keep hearing about from the Wintel side of things, called something like a "skrole wheel" and, how you say? "Too Mouze Buttons" ...

One day, some guy mysteriously placed one of these mice on my desk, he tried to tell me this is pretty much standard in the Wintel side of things - but who's he kidding? We all know Apple sets all the standards in computerdom - so I plugged it into my OSX Titanium, and it worked! Skrole Wheel and all ...

What a breakthru these "Too Mouze Buttons" and a "Skrole Wheel" are!

I've gotten so attached to this mouse, that I'd never got back to any Apple no-we'll-never-admit-there's-better one button member thingy, regardless of how milky-white, transparent or sexy it is.

So who's the innovative company that made this mouse? Hmmmmmm ... lemmee see, it's on the side of the thing - oh yeah, here it is "Microsoft".

Well, we shouldn't be too hard on Apple for being slow on the draw on this one ... after all, a tiny nimble company like Microsoft can react much better to emerging standards than a large company like Apple can.

You guys DO realize that you're probably giving this MasterGater guy everything he was looking for in the first place?

I mean, you've turned an entire thread into about HIM.

    Ugh...

Ahh, the never dying mousebutton discussion!!!!

I think the one button mouse is brilliant. I use a two button, scroll mouse myself. But for any first time computer user/buyer one buttom is enough.

It's all about usability. If your a pro, buy a pro mouse. Whether Apple should manke them is a different question. But competing with MS and Logitech (++) for the mouse market doesn't seem like something Apple should get into....

Never looked back since getting my dual button mouse with scroll. Unfortunately am forced to use onw without scroll atm as I am using my bro's PC.

In regards to all the comments against Mastergating... STOP, please. I enjoy his and other peeps work, it may be insider info it may be entirely fictional, so what? I saw nada on this forum's instructions in regards to what peeps can and cannot post.

I know we are all itching to find out what toys Steve will have in his lil bag, this is just entertaining/amusing/angering us in the meantime

I mean sheesh, I have never read this much in a forum since the time I was trying to catch up with my old guilds gpoings on in Everquest, this is great!!

Spiffy you can't prove that he's NOT an insider, just like I can't prove that he IS an insider. Anyone who remembers Worker Bee knows that pictures and certain details can't be posted. Why would any true insider risk that? So there's no way that we will know until after the expo.

Now this guy has made some pretty specific comments about the new products. It will be really easy come January 7th to know if he's a liar or not. If he is, the "newbies" will learn their lesson. If he truly knows what he's talking about (milky white mouse with now circles comes to mind) then we have reason to believe him in the future.

No one has a right to tell anyone to go away. If he says he's an insider then we'll all find out in less then 2 weeks.

Oh and the Airport problems with the Tibooks are true. I've read about it in many articles on the mac web. Look around, I'm sure you'll find them too.

Are you dense? 2 TiBook updates within a month? It's obvious that he was on a roll and got greedy and is now dishing out stuff left and right because you're eating it up. I didn't say he's not an insider because he doesn't have pictures. I said he's not an insider because from a business perspective a lot of this stuff just doesn't make sense.

This is not to mention the fact that those who have even a slight clue on how Apple works knows that nobody has this much info. If you work at Apple and are a true insider, you know a great deal about the specific hardware or software project you are working on, and are more or less kept in the dark about things your project has nothing to do with. This is why things don't get out of Apple as much as some people in here like to think. If Mastergating or whoever worked on the iPod, he'd know nothing about the new iMac - it would be up to the iMac guys to test it out on the new hardware and make sure things work. The guys who design the innards of the iBook have no clue what the new PowerMac case will look like. I don't know why people don't accept this.

If you work outside of Apple, you either get a nondescript beige sealed box to test, or next to nothing if you're in retail.

Really, people. Too much info. can be more of a giveaway than not enough. I stand by my statements. The fact that people actually believe him rather than merely being entertained by his speculations is what is annoying, and I'm sure he loves it.

No, I'm not dense thank you very much. I didn't say I believed him. I just said we couldn't prove it either way.

What if he's Phil Schiller's son??

(I know, I know! But come on, it COULD happen..heh)

You have all the right in the world to stand by your statements but he has all the right to post whatever he wants too. What if the portables are updated in Feb/March at MW Tokyo??? Then he was just wrong about the timing.

Hey, I'm not eating this up. I'm just intrigued and keeping my judgements in check until Jan 7th. We'll see

Haha...well said, Willoughby. I guess I have to be slightly amused by the fact that I could change my name to "Steve's Dry Cleaner," start spouting info about the "Newton 2" Jobs left in his coat pocket, and have people believe it.

Does Phil even have a son? He seems like a bachelor type to me. What self respecting woman would let that man out of the house with a hair cut like that?

(ok if mastergater defends the haircut we know he's a relative of Phil, or possibly Phil himself)

Can you give some more description on the mouse so I could make a mock-up.

Didn't he already admit he was a fraud? I thought this would be old news by now. It has a life of its own.
