That is a common misconception of MS. MS has done several other things quite well.
Their Dev tools are excellent.
The XBox has more US marketshare than Nintendo.
Just two nice examples of MS doing well.
That's called "grasping for straws."
The Xbox arguement holds up nicely, until someone mentions the fact that the XBox is bleeding buckets of blood, and Sony has sold more that twice the stations than the XBox and Nintendo combined. Furthermore, the battle is between Sony and Xbox ... not Xbox and Nintendo, since Nintendo appeals to a much younger audience.
XBox is about as opposite of success as you can get.
I hear their Dev tools are quite good though ... not what you'd consider a consumer product though.
I personally think 2004 is a bit late. By that time, iTunes, napster (if it's still alive), and Dell would have profiecently grown into the market. It's way too late to put out another music service in an already crowded area. Apple needs to push this service as much as they possibly can, catch the audience while they can. And to help, we can spread the news, but I'm sure everyone has already told their friends. Even if they are PC users
Amorph, u hit it right on the dot! In a news article I read, Microsoft's music service will only offer it in MVA format. Laughable, they limited their reach of ppl by those 3 letters
Here is the problem with this. What does Bill Gates / Microsoft love more than anything? Thats right, $$$.
Really? He's losing a shitload on the Xbox. Honestly, I think it's the power trip that Bill likes. Seriously, he's a perennial loser who got really lucky, and is now a geek with a motive: to eliminate anyone who said he couldn't do it, and anyone who ever made fun of him.
