We sort of agree BuonRotto but you have to remember that the people that you know who "stare at their shoes" don't live in a part of the world where their belief in God is absolute. You live in a Western country with Western beliefs.

In any nation it might begin as money and standard of living and even level of education, but what it's truly about is cultural equivalency in a nation of people who belief in the instructions of God.

Our Western culture permeates the last half of the 20th century and beyond. There is hardly anywhere left in the world left unmarked by Western culture, you could spend the rest of the day naming incursions by the West across the globe (think Nike sunglasses and Blur t-shirts on African bushmen). And this invasion is almost worse than a religious crusade because it is, by and large, a secular invasion; an invasion of morality bereft of obedience to God...by nature secularism wants you to put your trust and belief in mankind and nothing beyond.

Why, it's the bloody Devil incarnate!

You can't educate their hatred away, it's only a deeper cultural invasion to think that you can. I'd respect you more if you invaded my country with tanks than if you tried to take away my religion. Don't use euphemisms here, what you're talking about is a cultural reprogramming.

These people have already seen the result of this grand experiment in America and other Western nations. Through the use of our legal systems public demonstrations of religion have been marginalized, trivialized and demonized to the point that believers are cast in our popular media as extremists if they advocate any position that deviates from the neutral all-inclusive, state-approved, generic feeling of a belief in the good in mankind.

I can hardly say that I blame anyone for resenting cultural colonialism, I can say that I resent their use of terrorist attacks to kill innocent civilians and I don't much care for them killing our soldiers either. Through their actions they've traded away any legitimate complaints they could have ever made.

To put in terms that some of you might better understand, just remember what it's like to be a Mac user in a Windows world...especially about four or five years ago.

So, really, it's about more than food or education.

    You cannot dismiss religion.

    Yet.
