[B]I think PowerDoc, alcimedes, Moogs, Buonrotto, Fellowship would be good political mods. They all do political threads but are usually quite flame-retardant.[b]
Are you kidding?! I'm usually just baiting people when I get involved! You think I'm really that conservative in real life? \
If you don't like it, don't look at it. Stop legislating how hidden they have to be from public life. Give a warning before the television show comes on and if you don't want to see it, CHANGE THE FVCKING CHANNEL instead of inserting your "i must ruin everyone else's fun" metal pole up your asshole and trying to get the government to step in and ban shit.

one more mouse click will ruin everyone's fun?? it is clearly the end of the world as we know it if we must click through to a political forum on a freakin mac site....

Gee, how about instead of making it a pain in the ass for everyone else you just IGNORE AND DON'T CLICK ON the threads you don't want to see? How about we simply make the rule that all threads must be aptly titled? That would work fine.

one click = pain in the ass
why have any forums then...just come to AI and everything is in one spot...current hardware, future hardware, etc etc all together...simple
but it has been shown that if you want to talk about software, it is easier to go to a forum called software....
if you want to talk politics, you would go to a forum called politics...and in an election year that could get quite busy....
Ao was more about talking to AI humans about none mac things...lite stuff about your day, a magazine article you read, a cute girl you saw, what song you are listening to, how many time you masterbate a day, etc etc...
but if the powers to be want AO like it is, that is fine with me...i will go back to ignoring it and instead visit invisible threads and such...
ai really isn't a democracy anyways, the mods and admins will decide what they want to do and then do it...usually late at night while drunk...no biggie
Yes, an extra click IS a pain in the ass. All the other forums you mentioned were accessible via one click from the main page. What you want is to hide the politics because you are offended and outraged by the threads. Sorry, that's your problem so don't screw me and others like me by making us go through one more page clickthrough because YOU are incapable of NOT CLICKING.
Ok we have understood the point of both of you (BR and thegelding)
To click or not to click that is the question, or to ignore or not to ignore if you prefer.
The staff did not have already take their decision, but one thing is sure, political forum or not, any thread relative to politic or not, will be more heavily moderated.
In particular, if personnal attacks will be still forbidden, derailing or let degenerating a thread by purpose will be not allowed anymore.
Welcome to Anders, BuonRotto, and FellowshipChurch iBook as the new moderators here on AO ? this is kind of the three of you to volunteer your time. Actually, in all three cases I think that they are appropriate choices (although, for balance, AO might need a raging conservative moderator ? Fellows has become well?moderate?recently.)
Without wanting to reopen the debate on all of this, but something was not entirely clear to me from the announcement: is it the case that the solution is that moderators have simply been added (none are leaving are they??): i.e. the policy direction is not to segregate debate, but to try to make it more civil by having more people there to moderate (and by posting some new rules as well)? This seems to me to be a good general direction.

something needs to be done.

Yeah, get rid of bPaulr.
And I agree with whomever said Fellowship would be a good choice for moderator.

Yah Gelding, if the hothead insurgency continues I'll just go i-n-v-i-s-b-l-e too. Doctor's orders.

I thought I'd bump this because I think it may be a good idea to consider again.
And you are not alone with that one.
