I say it's a joke from the guy who programmed Macworld's subscription site. How would he/she know if Apple was releasing an iMac G5 soon?

Edit: Where did my spelling go? I used to be able to spell.

This is a GREAT idea. People have offered to eat computers, keyboards, do fellatio to themselves. All things I am sure the betting persons would be ready to do (though no pictures have ever been shown). But only if an AI´er really believes something or have some inside knowledge will he dare bet parts of his post account.

He probably decided to see what shmuck would be the first to post it at a rumor site. Finally, I'm first at something!!!

They make a lot more money with the first two.

Good, except for two things. The G5s will get the 90nm sometime in the next few weeks, so that means speedbumps as well. Than will come the G5 iMac, than G5 PB. I would be really surprised if the G5 found its way into a PB before the iMac. The G5 PB won't be out till August, and the iMac is aging fast.

Neba, since you are the only one that uses them, when you lose brad will remove them from the server so you can never use them again!

That would be handy if not for the image button near the bottom of this text field I am posting in now in combination with some cheap server space.

August or now, the cooling issues will remain the same. Oh no, wait, in August it will be worse since the G5's GHz will go up. I can hardly see the current G5 in a Powerbook. I am more hoping for a new mobile processor for the Powerbooks.

For the history, the G3 and the G4 Powerbook came out months before the G3/G4 iMac. In particular:

first G3 Powerbook (Kanga): November 1997

G3 series Powerbook (Wallstreet): May 1998

first G3 iMac (Bondi Blue): August 1998

first G4 Powerbook (Mercury): January 2001

    first G4 iMac (Flat-panel): January 2002

However, I don't think it is safe this time to extrapolate and make the assumption that the G5 Powerbook will be out first, since the G3 and G4 processors are indeed embedded processors, while the G5 is a heavy desktop processor.

PS. Jade, those are the exact clockspeeds the iMacs are at now, now way would they release a G5 iMac at the same clockspeed as the current model, I say it's a haste driven typo....

iMac G3, G4 AND G5? 3 products at a time? Nope, this has to be an error or misprint.

They're not selling all three, it's the registration page.

Apple wants to get away from Motorola ASAP!!! Has anyone thought there might be a mobile G5 for the PowerBook and say use the 750vx for the iMac until about 2005? The iMac is a consumer machine, there is NO need to put a G5 in it... Of course the price seems contrary to being a consumer machine. Maybe Apple will turn the iMac into a prosumer machine w/ possible G5 and make a smaller/cheaper iMac mini
