Local Treats?
Are there any delicacies or "just plain tasty" foods peculiar to the place you live?
Take poutine, the (debatably) Québecois artery-clogger of French fries smothered in gravy and cheese curds. Delicious and disgusting all at once.
Beaver tails are great, too... sweet, crispy, paddle-shaped slabs of fried batter that make a great outdoor snack.

Huge fan of Tex-Mex myself. Amazing stuff, but I don't get enough of it being from Chicago and all.
There is an awesome Chinese place by where I live, love it, can't get enough of it.
I don't mind the former, but that fish:

But as for local dishes, well moose tacos are quite the treat. Halibut in a rice wrapper with a soy-cilantro sauce--my mouth drools just thinking about it. And King salmon with a little lemon pepper and alder smoke fresh off the grill cannot be beat. But if you like lamb, Dale sheep is even better--tender and way less fat.
We've got an Uncle Julio's Casa Grande here in the ATL! Fun place.
Let's see.....
boiled peanuts
Waffle House hash browns scattered & smothered
Chick Fil-A chicken sandwiches
and probably anything else fried..... deep fried turkey?
some weird pies. (that i hate).
//
rice and beans.
all the mediter stuff u know anyway .. couscous, pastas etc etc. seafood stuff
//
ummh.. ribs i think? (never eaten .. never eaten bacon either) ..
//
fish and chips ..? ..
if you have any good recipes (of anything) .. send some recipes
I'm a southern californian though, and there my sustenance outdoors is baja fresh and sharky's(almost exactly like baja fresh)

Hi Groverat - What 'is' Tex-Mex, exactly?
I mean, does if differ from 'Mexican food', like enchiladas, tacos, etc. ?

Grew up in Texas and LOVE TexMex. (I make some mean enchiladas myself.)

I LOVED Alaskan Gold beer, that I drank in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. Do they send it to the lower 48 at all?
(Of course, the Europeans would think it was pond water, like all American beer. )
