I'm going to have to jump on the "cat lovers are gay" boat.

Not that I really care, but I'm damn sick of all these cat videos being posted on AO. Gentlemen: if you feel like there's a gap in your life, get a firearm or a high performance car instead.

Plus, cat people are clinically proven to be lower on the genetic totem-pole. Don't get involved with a woman who likes cats, since not only are cats worthless pets, but the you'll be cheating your family line if you ever decide to copulate with a cat person.

I luv cats and dogs. I would get a cat as a pet for myself first, though. I like that they are low maintenance animals that don't need to be taken on a walk every day (works best for my lifestyle, at the moment). They can be just as affectionate, playful, and entertaining, however. They are so beautiful to look at, too. I can look at almost any part of them and be aghast at the beauty of nature that exists in cats.

    Hi Randycat -

I love cats and dogs, too. When I used to walk my dog (on a leash), my cat would walk along with us.

It was so cute to see my enormous white fluffy dog (Samoyed) and that little cat walking side by side in perfect harmony.

I have a picture of them playing as kitten and puppy, when they were pretty much the same size. A great shot.

My mom had a big dog and a little dog. When they went for walks, the big dog would hold the end of the leash, so that she was basically walking the little dog. That was really cute to see, too.

Cats are beautiful...so completely limber, soft, and springy. I am always amazed at their leaping ability.

I think all creatures are amazing. Could a team of 100 Nobel Prize winners create even one simple spider? I don't think so. All creatures have their place in the scheme of things. That's why I hate to kill anything. I'll avoid it if I can. I always feel sorry for them (even ants, which I'm forced to kill when they get in the house occasionally), because they're just doing what they were put on earth to do. Would be nice if humans did as much, wouldn't it?

Think about many creatures that mate for life. If only we could do the same, and be happy.

Think of birds. How would one of us like to try building a house by carrying things in our mouth, using no arms/hands, and hopping everywhere we went?

Am I getting too saccharine for a board that's mostly guys? Should I 'dial it down a notch'?

I do make a lot of associations between cats and human females wrt to behavior, form, and innate beauty. That said, I do not think the analogy fits that cat lovers are then effeminate persons. If there is a characterization to be made, a cat lover would logically be a fan of da ladies!

I share your sentiments, Carol. It is so touching to see dog and cat-mates display atypical behavior on behalf of each other. Like when a cat and dog can curl up against each other for a nap, drinking out of each others water bowls, or when you catch them grooming each other? It just screams that the intellectual capacity is there for them to overcome millions of years of instinct and express compassion for each other as simple buddies. I, too, wish that humans could exhibit a similar level of compassion more often.

Are you buddhist? I only ask because you share their same philosophy of 'do no harm' to all living creatures.
