1. line up a stack of 'tabs' (can we call them thumbnails?) in the drawer
2. select the topmost item
3. repeat <space> to page down
4. eventually you'll move through to the last 'tab'
sweet. this lets me read a slew of separate pages using only the spacebar, and shift-space takes me all the way back
OW5 cons, imho:
- no pithelmet. I realize how much I take it for granted when firing up something not safai. ew, shit flashing all over my screen
(yes, ow has its own 'ad blocking'; it just doesn't work as well)
- for multiple tabs of similar appearance (e.g. several threads on AI), the page title proves more important than the thumbnail, which exposes a weakness in vertically-oriented 'tabs'
one might think pulling out the drawer (making it wider) would solve this problem, and it does... except omni chooses to emphasize the tab thumbnail's resolution over how many tabs I can see simultaneously...
the thumbnail toggle sorta solves the problem, but denies me cool omniweb thumbnails!

i noticed this when the first leaked screenshots were available on the omnigroup's site. i told them that they should provide rollover captions to counteract the "title too long for the drawer" issue. also, i sent along my idea to "scrub the drawer," where if you have a LOT of tabs (funny, i don't think you can call them "tabs" anymore), you can keep it condensed in list form, but as you scrub over the list of names, each individual tab would slide open to reveal its screenshot (and also full caption).
not sure if they'll be able to implement any of that, but they did say that there are still features as of yet not implemented in this release, so we will see.
If a page fails to fully load, for any reason, OW does not release the connection. It simply keeps trying to load, and does not time out until the app is forced to quit. This will quickly use all available connections for OW, making the app useless for anything but reading whatever you've already loaded in tabs.
On the same note, never use the stop button. It does the same damn thing, never closing the connection.

yep, same behavior under 10.3. well, for me at least.
OW5 has a lot of potential. I know that this is the first beta out of the bag, so it is to be expected to be slightly buggy. I am unsure about the tab implementation. It is nice and all, but I think it will take some getting used to.
Right now it is slow to open my daily news site visits in "tabs", but it is looking good so far.
I can't wait until it goes gold!
Now only if Safari let you reorganize your tabs, then I would be a happy camper.
I think your done loading image highlights a big flaw in their current implementation, both the AppleInsider thumbnails look the same and the captions are identical, there is no way to work out which one is which. This is easy solved though by doing what Safari does in its tabs: Remove all leading text in the title of the tab that is the same. So having two AI threads open is not a problem, the leading 'AppleInsider - ' is removed, leaving the unique thread title.
I had problems posting from OmniWeb 5 aswell. Personally I'm gonna stick with Safari 1.2 until OmniWeb 5 hits Gold Master. The browser has lots of potential, but it can't beat the Safari Snappiness Experience(tm).
why the **** must the google box be so blooody ugly?
it's not even AAed properly. otherwise, very nice.
I found a sort-of workaround. If you customize the toolbar, check "small size" and then uncheck it, the google bar becomes properly antialiased.
It randomly changes back every once in a while though.
Overall, I think OW5 has great potential. There are a few issues to be worked out, but if the Omni Group fixes the few major issues, they'll have my money.

Huge problem with OW5 under 10.2!

I miss the command up and down from Safari. Its handy to be able to go directly to the top and bottom of a page.
On a laptop you can hit Function+Left Arrow for home(top of page) and Function+Right Arrow for end(bottom of page).
On a regular keyboard, just hit home and end. It will result in the same behavior.

yup same here... couldn't figure out why it was doing that either...
can't post from OW5 either...
on an unrelated note, posting with safari 1.2 pegs CPU use to 100% when typing...

Don't know if you saw this or not. It was brought up in the safari thread. It has to do with the smilies. Safari is choking on them.

Brad made a video near the end of that page.
