You don't see the total and utter hyprocrisy in this statement (in the light of your other arguments) at all do you? Not to mention the irony. Yes America must defend human rights and freedom - unless of course you've got something the US wants.
Good you answered my question finally. Jeez it's the friggin' white man's burden all over again. Oh and...
Yes, the US is in great shape.
Umm...we need oil. If you can show me how we can turn away the Saudis right now, I'd be happy to listen. Do you oppose ANWR drilling? Do you oppose offshore drilling? Before our long term solution of getting off of oil, we need a SHORT term soltution to ensure continued energy availability. The Saudis are bullshit and everyone knows it...but we can't afford to stop buyng their oil. Not now, anyway.

Yes I realise your country's economy, my country's economy and numerous others would collapse without the Saudis oil. My point is, if you adopt a foreign policy with as many glaring inconsistencies in it as the current US one (where was the US when we asked for help with East Timor?), then don't be surprised when people conclude that you are acting more out of self-interest than for any bullshit altruistic reasons.
