No kidding. They're the Hamas of the animal rights world. (Just to throw in *another* idiotic comparison.)
I avoid factory farmed meat whenever possible, I buy free range eggs, and organic milk. I actually give a damn how the animals are treated, but I'm also going to continue eating meat and using animal products.
PETA just sets actual progress back. "Yer one o' them animal rights people, eh? Hang 'im high, boys!" Thank you PETA, for screwing it up for the rest of us who actually try to change things through the only meaningful method in a capitalist society: our wallets.
Isn't there a better way of protesting some of the horrible things that go on with animal treatment without resorting to this BS and scaring the crap out of moms waiting in line @ Mickey D's?
To someone in PETA, a cow is as important as a human being. Most of you seem to disagree. But you should at least be able to see that if a cow is as important as a human being, comparing the meat industry to Auschwitz is accurate.

Except that it's not. The Holocaust attempted to end the existence of an entire people. The meat industry is just that ? an industry. They're not trying to make cows extinct, because they are useful.

I'm thinking along the lines of mass killings. That's comparable.

Better ditch penicillin then...
Sorry, but while cruelty is right out in my book, death is a part of life, and nature.
I think it's insane that we as a culture are worried about whether or not a cow is eaten, but we're bound and determined to keep old people alive and suffering as long as possible.

Not to mention they taste better (but then you see the prices, damn).
Worth it, in my opinion. And, as farmers and ranchers see that people are willing to pay extra for it, more move to that model, and the price comes down. I saw this in the apple industry back home (Wenatchee, WA - Apple Capitol of the World). Organic farmers were laughed at... until they were making money hand over fist. Now it's a part of most orchardists' business models, if they can afford the initial outlay. And the prices *have* come down considerably.
I can't tell if it's most, but I often put forward the same criticism. But there are a whole lot of groups and lobbyists that we don't hear about in the media. The media whores will drown them out by virtue of the fact that they are media whores.
exactly, no one wants to hear about activists being thoughtful, responsible and rationale, they want to hear about the crazy people outside of the fur factory. That's what the media markets, that's what you'll see. Don't we see this all over the place, minority extremists giving the majority a bad name?

I'm a member of PETA: People for the Eating of Tasty Animals
Yes, I know it's cheesy, but I like it. Also, while I know it's not directly related, I can't help but think of Godwin's Law. It's the same idea, I think.
For the record, I'm not an animal rights advocate, I appreciate life, and think it's terrible what we do to some animals. Do I place animals at a higher value than humans? not generally, I know where we stand in evolution(I did a very long research paper about it) but I think that we abuse our position somewhat.
The factory farm industry, most of all, is a bloated resource wasting pile of cow crap.
No matter how poor the quality, and no matter how much the individual may wish otherwise. Gotta love those morals.
Not saying that's your point, necessarily, (you'll have to actively grab that mantle yourself) but we treat our pets better than we do our elderly. Something is just not right about that.

Anything for attention, I guess.

They're cows. Evolution designed them to be eaten. We are atop the food chain so we get to eat them. They taste good.
That's fine. Then I say it would be wrong of you to compare killing cows to Auschwitz.

Well, some people are upset at the process as well. It's not just if they live or die, although I imagine most people in PETA are vegetarians.

there is nothing natural about the deaths they are against
humanity imposed deaths on animals, particularly when induced by technology, are in no way natural.

Some people just value all life.

On that we wholeheartedly agree.

So... what about those deaths imposed on deer by wolves?
Or are humans simply no longer considered a part of nature?
