It's not like he has some hugely impressive resumé to shop around. His only successful show (Angel) is one where inherited the role executive producer. If FOX doesn't like his stuff, what makes you think NBC, CBS or ABC would? Second tier networks like WB and UPN might. Perhaps he'll 'avoid' FOX by shopping his ideas to FX...
Actually, his resume is impressive as hell if you count quality as a positive attribute. He written some of the best episodes on some of the best written shows of the past 10 years.
It's true he doesn't have any ratings blockbusters under his belt, but that's the viewing publics loss, not his failing.
If a show doesn't pull an audience, what good is it to the network? The fact is the show started out with low ratings, and the trend was downward. FOX filled its hit TV show quota this season anyway.
Wonderfalls got pulled as fast as girls club (David E. Kelley) ...heh.
How are people supposed to know about a new show instantly? There used to be a notion of a quality show "finding an audience" by comitting to it and giving it some time. It helps to give it a decent time slot and leave it there.
Wonderfalls ran for all of four episodes, twice on Thursday and twice on Friday, with very little promotion.
We'll never know if it could have been a hit, or a solid performer, because the twitchy climate of modern corporate media can't wait and see.
And they wonder why market share keeps falling for broadcast TV.

Also it doesn't cost anything to produce because there's no talent to hire.
That's why it's so popular with TV execs now days.
I personally can't wait for this fad to end and we get back to smart, scripted, shows like Wonderfalls.
all tv executives are idiots imo
