The Devils' offense is inept; I think Toronto would have more trouble with Philly personally. Either way, Belfour played the best game I've seen from him all season. Friggin' stone wall... the slash-happy bastard.
Quinn refusing to match lines. Leafs one game under .500 at home.
hmmm...
But I don't know if your line matching arguments make sense there InactionMan. While on occasion you might send out Domi (who's a punk, BTW) to try to rattle Chara, if you don't send your top centre out against Chara, who do you send? That is Sundin's assignment ultimately.
Quinn is smarter than most people realize, not Scotty Bowman smart, but very careful and patient, probably to a fault. The leafs haven't been this good for this long since the good old days of the Big M and it's almost all to do with Quinn.
Woohooo! Preds make it a series with 3-1 win over the Wings. Congrats Nashville fans on your first ever NHL playoff win...
I am pumped for the Vancouver game. Going to keep my eye on Boston - Montreal tonight too. I didn't realize until after the Masters that there were even any games on. I certainly wouldn't have expected the Wings to play, since (unless I'm insane) they just played yesterday.
Devils O isn't as bad as everyone thinks they are, but they do need more help for the Elias line. I think the biggest reason they've lost these games isn't a lack of scoring, it's moments of defensive lapses. That has to do with Steven's absense but also has alot to do with the replacements are a bunch of rookies. They're really good rookkes, but still rookies and susceptible to those lapses. When they get caught, the Flyers take great advantage. The good news is that these guys will be that much better in the following years, so this looks to be a temporary thing. But they do need to be more physical like Stevens, especially Hale.
Actually burb-meister, I'm not too worried about Moose. Being a die hard Pens fan I can tell you that when he is pumped up and has a decent defensive corps in front of him, he's just as good as Cloutier if not better. He gets pumped up for big games / challenges I think and there is none better than this time of year.
I think he'll be fine. Possibly even an improvement as he's better on his skates and handling the puck than Cloutier.
I think the Sens may have forgotten that they need to score goals in order to win the Stanley Cup. There is nothing better than watching the Sens bench deflate with each passing minute.
Clearly wasnt for a lack of trying, but they need to be right on him more. They arent screening enough and it wouldnt hurt to play him a bit harder, play him like the Flames on Cloutier. Belfour is a robot and is by far the only reason Maple Leafs have won even one game. Its quite frustrating to see a team out play another and go down like that. I hope they play him a lot harder next game.

GO LEAFS GO!
Belfour is clearly the greatest goalie ever!
Toronto was lucky and Belfour was great. However, good bounces and good goaltending make winner in the playoffs. Toronto will win this series. Sad news for those of us in Ottawa, but this is the reality. I think that TO may well win the next game in Ottawa, then Ottawa may pull it off a victory in Toronto, then Ottawa will lose in Game 6. Home ice does not mean a lot - especially in Ottawa where there are always quite a few Leafs fans raising a ruckus.
Ed has been a frigging brick wall the last two games. How ironic that all season everyone was worried about Lalime and not the Sens offense, and now it's the offense that's got them in a hole. Not that they didn't put plenty of vulcanized rubber on net last night. They friggin blasted Belfour the entire third period... he was just on fire.
The Sens need to win the next one or they're in deep shit. They're starting to play like that old monkey is on their back again....
Lovin' the Bruins comeback! What was Kovalev thinking? Keep your head up and try not to skate into your teammates. It is too bad that now everyone is gonna be on his ass in Montreal when they were just warming up to him. You wouldn't see that kind of botch from someone like Thornton. Do we have any angry Habs fans in the building??
Kovalev was trying to draw a penalty as many players do. His real mistake was waiting for the whistle and losing control of the puck. Just stupid. There's no other word for it.
That said, I am SO glad that little bitch Ribiero wasn't vindicated with his two goal performance. That little sack of shit is the most gutless player I've seen all year. I'm not even a Boston fan but I was really pissed when he did what he did last game. It was such a blatant "soccer player move" with him kicking his legs along the ice and twisting and turning... then 20 seconds later he's up on his feet laughing at Boston's bench and then taunting?
Someone needed to smack that little peach-fuzz goatee off his face.
And then the coach has the nerve to pretend like it was a real injury, saying "Oh gee he missed practice today, it must be real"... then he goes out and skates like he's never felt better? They're both shameless IMO.
Fvcking PUNK move. I hope someone puts his bony ass into concussion land next game, with a nice clean open ice smack-down.
And on other notes, the Flames were awesome last night. I hope the Canucks can match that level of intensity next game... should be fun.
I hate that prick Ribiero now, what a pussy. I am really suprised they didn't play him extra hard into the boards for that move. Btw, that first goal of his was the biggest fluke I have ever seen. That puck bounced around like a soccer ball, Raycroft had no idea where the hell it was going. Oh well, the true justice for Ribiero's crying wolf is that they will be out of the playoffs next game. The Bruins are gonna come out charged up and hitting everyone in site. The Bruins get their revenge on the Habs!! Lovin' it.
That Nucks/Flames series is definitely the most exciting to watch (Ott/Tor a close second). It looks like that will go seven.
How about the Preds? Vokoun is playing amazing, signs of the Ducks from last year. I hope they win, it's good for the league when you can get more fans into the game. No one in Nashville knows hockey, they will slowly get more educated and start to like it. Anyone see that acrobatics mid-game show? That is some funny stuff.
Kipps save the day for the Flames. Auld played well though, not a bad move by Crawford.
I'm really disliking the Habs right now, those pussies keep dropping faster than your sister dress on prom night. I've never seen such a gutless display to draw powerplays. I hope this comes back to bite them in the ass.
Tonight (technically) is gonna be an awesome night for hockey! Hopefully the Flyers knock out the Devils and the Sens take the series lead. They know how to get to Belfour now and Sundin, Neiwendyk are out. Gonna drink some beer and watch some hockey, whos with me? Cheers!

Go Sens Go!!!
Not hopefully. The Flyers WILL do it. Never fear.
As for the Sens... i have a feeling that series has a bit more to run. I still think it may very well go 7 games.
The Flyers will do what? Lose in the second round?
That's what I was thinking. . .
Philly sucks!
You sound like a Rangers fan... :P Nope... this year I think they'll get deep. This is a great team with lots of depth and great goaltending. The Flyers have shown this year they can beta the teams that give them trouble. So you'd better watch out.
Glad to see your Avs finally decided to start playing some hockey. :P It would have been terrible for them to go out early 2 years in a row...
I don't know why people think the Flyers will be any more exciting to watch than the Devils. Y'all haven't been paying attention to how those teams play. The Devils have been the more "exciting" in terms of offense, the Flyers have been playing trapping D better than the Devils by far, and that's why they're going to win the series. So if you're expecting an exciting round with the equally trap-happy Sens, you've got another thing coming. :P
I wouldn't mind seeing an Ottawa-Philly series or even TB-Philly. I think either would be high scoring most likely. Ottawa seems a little more free-wheeling this year, as Lalime can't be counted on to hold early leads.
As for Montreal, I wish they would just drop to the ice, flail away and die. I hope Boston beats their ass for the series win in Montreal. That would be poetic justice. I'm sure the Frenchies will riot though, so maybe I shouldn't wish for that. Friggin scabs (as Boston fans call them).
Out west, Kiprusoff is looking to be the best of all the goalies going. He has absolutely shut Vancouver's offense down. They got a lot of good chances among those 31 shots last night and he turned all but one away. Auld also played well but Vacouver needs to get an early start on Kiprusoff to get in his head I think. Give that guy a couple periods of shutout or one goal hockey and he'll finish you off most times seems like.

Anyway, Go Lefty, Go Canuckleheads!
Cloutier injury = bad.
Oh well, one series every 5-7 years isn't so bad.
I think he'll be fine. Possibly even an improvement as he's better on his skates and handling the puck than Cloutier.

Eliminated.
Sharks advance.
Flames are showing a lot more fire than the Canucks are so far.
Vancouver needs to step up, though Auld has been pretty good.

I fear for my beloved Nucks.
