Title of the article: "Bush stands firm on Iraq, war on terror"

Subtitle: "President: 'I don't plan on losing my job'"

Apparently, the only really important thing about the event was swaggering confidence. Our fearless leader!

Analysis of what was said? Missing in action.

Alternative viewpoints: A brief mention of how Kerry responded, mentioned in such a way as to make it no more that part of the horse race, with again no real analysis.

I am an honest and fair man so props to cnn, lets hope this is a sign of things to come: i would hate to have to say that htis is a case of "even a broken clock is corect 2x per day.

You do get that that was a complaint about the poor coverage by CNN, right?

It was typical Napoleon Shrub tuff guy drivel. Little on content, but big on the stuff all too many Americans like to hear.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

But continue on with your conspiracy theories. Don't let reality stop you.

I felt kind of bad for him, but I feel worse for us.

I heard those same things about Jim Jones .... You think you feel bad now? We haven't even gotten to the Convention Kool-Aid yet.

Compared to that, the press was practically breast-feeding bush.

Was? Did! Is! Has been! Has never stopped! Has shown no signs of ever stopping!

To my knowledge, the man has gotten TWO rough and tumble questions in his entire political career:

    1) When that guy from the Boston Globe ambushed him with the pop quiz on world leaders (which he failed)

    2) When that woman stood up during the rose garden press conference and nailed him. I don't remember the question, though. It was on all the major outlets as someone being mean to him, though.

Ugh. You can lose for winning/win for losing with this guy. Expose him and you're mean. Challenge him and you hate America.

I don't think so, actually. I think his appeal is that he's very, very good at seeming to be like normal people.

He's also, you know, not Clinton. That helped. Well, that and Al Gore ran a SUCKTASTIC campaign.

    Perfect evaluation, shetline!

Watching the press conference, I just couldn't think of how Bush could benefit from it. I just couldn't imagine how people could see him favorably after that- or how the press could spin it. I fault myself for not recognizing the obvious: the press would focus not on the content of his speech or his answers, but on superficialities like Bush's "swaggering confidence." It really saddens me because I thought the press corps asked particularly pointed and relevant questions.

oh yeah . . . and I would add that the pass-the-buck, that seems so common in the republican attitude these days, has been SOP for Bush for a long time . . . many occasions . . . many cited on these boards in fact . . . not just the big ones, such as when Bush refused to acceept responsibility for giving the wrong figures on the economy in a speech . . . he later came out and laid the blame on the 'number crunchers' or something to that effect . . . and that is only an innocuous instance, there are plenty of examples and many dealing with life and death issues

    Maybe this will help:

The value of an Officer VS a NCO

A 2LT was walking home from work one day, when he noticed a little boy sitting on the sidewalk. The little boy was playing with a pile of shit.

Curious, the 2LT walked over to the little boy and asked him "Why are you playing with a pile of shit?" The little boy replied "I'm building an NCO". The 2LT, amused by this, ran back to the company to get his captain.

Upon returning to the little boy, who was still playing with the pile of shit, the Captain asked "Son, what are you doing?" The little boy looked up at him and said " I'm building an NCO". The captain being equally amused insisted that they return and get the 1SG.

When the three returned the little boy, still playing with his pile of shit, was asked by the 1SG "Son, what are you doing?" The little boy again replied "I'm building and NCO". "Why are you building an NCO?" asked the 1SG._ The little boy paused and responded "Because I don't have enough shit to build an officer"

    Or this...

A Navy Chief and an Admiral were sitting in the barbershop. They were both just getting finished with their shaves, when the barbers reached for some after-shave to slap on their faces.

The admiral shouted, "Hey, don't put that stuff on me! My wife will think I've been in a whorehouse!"

The chief turned to his barber and said, "Go ahead and put it on. My wife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like."

GUESS WHAT: Bush got the WMD wrong in Libya . . . HALF THE AMOUNT HE QUOTED

But it is fairly obvious that it matters not to BushCo . . . thier tactic is tell flat out bad information while on National Television during Prime Time . . . during, even, the time slot for Pop Idol (or whatever it is called) and know that the majority of people who are watching will not even pick up a newspaper in the following week much less read any boring articles like corrections to Bush's facts . . . pshaw . .wat a BORE ! ! ! FACTS . . . ugh!
