My BTO 15" PB was ordered Wednesday, shipped this early morning and is scheduled for delivery by Monday.
The "little extras" (wireless keyboard & mouse, iSight and APP) are already here.
The only thing that will be "slow" is the extra battery, which is scheduled to ship by 5/5.
Apple is moving orders out the door rather fast and FedEx ain't slow either - especially as I chose FREE delivery and the PB is coming from China.

I also ordered my 17" on the 27th and my Order Status page has not changed from "Open" and it still says it will ship on or before May 3. I also keep going to that page every 10 mins

Well crap!! I just went to the Order Status page and though it seems that perhaps my Powerbook is built, I cannot get it. There is an "action required" message on the screen telling me to call my credit card company and then call Apple when it is resolved. I called the credit card company and they were just being sure that it was me making such a large purchase. It was okayed then. Of course when I called Apple, they were CLOSED!! I hate having to wait until morning to get this taken care of. This means mine won't ship out from China until Sunday or Monday.
Okay, all is well with the CC company and Apple. The Apple lady I spoke with around noon said the computer should ship out later today or tomorrow. Wonderful!!
Hey! I think i heard about those... apple only made like 10 of them, and each one was like $5500. They were a little big, but certainly not too large to be portable. Man... wish I had a 25"...
5500 is a little low for something like that. The 23 inch apple cinema display costs $1,999.00

Mine shipped May 1 (got the tracking No. email, though it should have shipped May 3) but the fedex page has it still in Shanghai. Says "Left FedEx Ramp" Shanghai, May 3. Delivery is still scheduled for May 5 by 10:30am. I don't get to the delivery address until Thursday (traveling), so I hope it does come on time.
I'd say you're OK. If it's supposed to ship tomorrow, you'll probably get the email tomorrow. Crossing my fingers for ya (I do know the feeling)
This checking every 10 mins thing is really getting boring
edit: Just checked FedEx again (10 mins ) and it has arrived in Anchorage, Alaska!!!
Mine arrived at the office this morning, but I couldn't get there until 3 pm - what a pain.
I followed the FedEx tracking several times a day and it moved through the system very quickly. I think that they finalize all customs work in China while building the BTO so there is no delay when it ships.
Based on the speed it was moved around I would say that free shipping is about as fast as paid shipping when the item comes across the Pacific.
Compared to the old 667 the new 1.5 is very sweet indeed. The design is a major improvement over the TI and I'm already in love. My only problem is that the office Dell crashes about 15 times a day and most of my time is being spent saving data for a full reformat disk and reinstall. It has to last until the PB is paid off (by the business), I get a next generation iPod, my wife has a next generation iMac (to replace an old Dell 450) and I am able to get a PM that can run 2 Windows under VPC. I love being a "switcher" but when you are using multiple machines it can get expensive - even when you get a tax writeoff! At least I have a friend at MS that gets me MS software at the employee store price.
I checked my order today, hoping that my "on or before 5/6" status had changed to shipped. I ordered a wireless mouse to go with my 15'' and I had it set so that they wouldnt ship together, hoping for the mouse (which was quoted at "on or before 5/3") to push the shipment of the PB.
Well...I checked my status a few minutes ago and my mouse has arrived to my Dad's office (where I always send stuff because I am never home in time to get it), and the PB is still waiting in the wings.
So, as of now I am "partially shipped" with my PB still being quoted for Thursday, May 6th. Here's hoping it makes it on time!
I chose 'ground shipping' and it took two days from China to Colorado. I'm wondering if they actually upgraded my shipping because there was a week delay in processing my PB order.

My 15"er is currently in a holding area in Indianapolis, IN. It has been there since 12:16 a.m. this morning. No change yet. The FedEx website still says that it will be delivered by 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.
We shall see. Too bad Indiana is so far from Texas. I wouldn't mind a little road trip to pick it up.

Well, I think this new laptop is going to lock me up in my cellar for quite a long time, so I won't be getting a life anytime soon
Glad to hear you've resolved your issues with Apple. They also made my ordering process a nightmare, but in the end it's worth the extra security.
